Did anyone read the interview with Amanda Knox's parents (Perugia murder suspect) in the S. Times today?

Although I was aware of the case, this article made me feel so sad and also so scared for my own DC:

  • seems that however much we think we know our children, we just will NEVER know what they are relaly like.

I'm not saying she is guilty - just that the interview highlighted that the daughter they thought they had, was very different to the girl being portrayed. (Thinking about the drugs/ sex references really).

I read the article and thought her parents were just being parents - loyal to a fault.

They seemed puzzled when told that she had 'met' a boy the first week she was in Italy. Really, what is she going to say... 'Hi Mom and Dad - just had a one night stand...'

Made me laugh though - how her family is being portrayed as 'working class!' - how many working class families do you know of who hire a PR firm?

If I had kids going to another country to study, I would not be worried. It's an isolated case of some fairly deranged people.

Ellbell... thank you for your kind words. Well, as parents we worry all the time anyway so nothing will be different. And yes, you are right, they share flats with people they barely know now.. you just hope that they take onboard all that you have been trying to teach them from day one!

I think the Meredith case was just a case of being int he wrong place at the wrong time but there will be plenty of pep talks before she goes
