Knowing just how cold it was in my house from a few weeks before Dd was born(boiler not repairable as too old), I too would dread the cold. I have at some point got to redecorate because after a full Winter with no heating, plus the Spring and Autumn and part of the following Winter without heating, I had black mold growing on the wallpaper...and although it largely cleaned off, the wallpaper came away from some of the walls(think some of the plaster too...
Dd was going to bed with a night cap onfrom 1 day old, I'd really hate to have to go through all that again. The three of us would have to sleep together! bit difficult when Dp is here though!
