MehgaLegs - that is really outrageous. The one thing the planning system should do is prevent developers back-filling flood plains making existing homes vulnerable to damage. I would be very, very in your shoes.

Probably off topic a bit but I was watching relocation last night and a couple bought an "Eco House" for best part of £500K, it was a massive house over three floors, in an estate of massive eco houses with three floors. How on earth is that helping the environment? You need to be able to get your hands on more money than most of us will ever manage to get one. Madness.

Agree that houses need to be built, but affordable ones please, in places that can cope with the increased population.
