I’d never heard of her before or about her being arrested. Was it in the news? It’s tragic.

Very sad. If only her mother hadn't taken up with an American Nazi or had stopped at just writing to him, rather than having him fly over after release to move in with her and her vulnerable child.

I found this case so baffling and tragic.
Why would anyone move that man in?

Imagine seeking out a relationship with a gang member serving time in prison and then allowing him to move into your home with your teen daughter. I cannot comprehend it.

And then to say it’s all the other services who failed her daughter… everyone else’s fault.

The absolute nerve of the mother, giving a ‘woe is me’ TV interview and trying to blame everyone else but herself!

God this is such a terrible story. That poor poor vulnerable girl - failed by her mother and what the fuck were the police doing arresting her - she was clearly extremely vulnerable and it was obvious she had been groomed/radicalised by adults when she was 13/14 FFS.

It beggars belief really….

In all fairness, the Police had no choice but to arrest her.

Sad case and maybe the authorities could have done better in some respects, but the primary responsibility rests with her mother and her mother's ex-boyfriend.

Rhianan's mother had been writing since 2017 to a convicted criminal in a South Carolina jail. He was a member of a white supremicist organisation called the Aryan Brotherhood of Arizona. He was jailed for fire arm offences amongst other unpleasant things and is "a nasty piece of work". His photos show him to be the very definition of a knuckle head and he has a swastika tattooed on his arm. On his release, Rhianan's mother invited this all round nut job to come and live with her and her vulnerable daughter in the UK. Whilst living there he sexually abused Rhianon and "politically" groomed her. He also introduced her to one of his like minded American friends online and she was further groomed.

Rhianon's mother has given several interviews denying any knowledge whatosever of her live-in boyfriend's Nazi beliefs or his abuse/grooming of her daughter. She says her family are the least racist people you could ever wish to meet. I mean, it's almost as if she's lying about everything isn't it. The family has been involved with social services for years. No shit.

Yes it was in the news at the time, and yes it is tragic. Another young autistic girl failed by everyone around her.

How did this man get a visa to come to the UK to live?

Yes I remember reading about this a while ago what struck and repulsed me is the mother who sought out and sent letters to a convict and neo nazi in another country, moved him into her home with her daughter then when he convinced the daughter of his beliefs the mother reported her OWN DAUGHTER to counter terrorism police which obviously led to the poor girls extreme stress and depression.

Yeah the mother sough out a convict and neo nazi and was seemingly fine with her lovers beliefs which probably gave her some weird thrill but when he politically groomed her young daughter she reported her own daughter to counter terrorism police.

The mum failed to protect her daughter more than anyone but referring her to Prevent was probably the one decent thing she did. It’s a multi agency scheme aimed at rehabilitation and safeguarding those at risk of extremism. The difficulty came that she had obviously committed serious offences that needed to be investigated and that appears to have halted the Prevent work.

It’s an horrifically sad case and like others, I cannot believe the brass neck of the mum to blame everyone else but herself. She’s just looking to sue and make some money out of her daughters death presumably.
