Hi Gwen, I wasnt meaning to generalise and say that anyone with health problems should have children. I am sorry to hear of your mums difficulties.

What I was trying to say was that one should consider the probabilities and quality of life and the toll pregnancy can take on your body at that time of life. It is also different as this women had passed menopause and her body is physically at a later stage... hence the donor. At the age she is, if in britain she would be classed as elderly care. I am not being ageist either.. but whilst respecting her right to be a mum one should consider the rights of the child. This poor lady obviously was despereate for a child as it was said she was childless and as I said before surely support for this could have been given.

oh and imho i dont think she looked healthy.. she looked knackered.. but didnt we all post birth

Awen, I thought that - considering she's been having some kind of anti-menopausal treatment, ie hormones presumably, she should not be looking so old!

There are thousands of children in orphanages in Romania. Why didn't she adopt one of those instead? Why did she have to carry it? It's just perverse that she has put herself through this to create a child which has no relationship to her at all.

I agree JanH. There has to be a cut off point. Glad I am not the only one awake
