Did anyone else hear that awful interview today on Radio 4 with Sebastian Gorka and Sarah Montague? I’ve also just found another bullying interview with him and Victoria Derbyshire- he’s SUCH a massive bully and so belittling! Does he only do this with women?

OP posts:

Yes I heard it, I was so proud of the way she dealt with it! He was so rude and she just didn't let up

TinyRebel · 13/05/2025 18:21

I heard this. Also thought he was a misogynistic bully. I doubt he’d behave like that with Nick Robinson or Justin Webb.

WinterTrees · 13/05/2025 18:25

I listened to it in the car with my mouth wide open. What a piece of work he is - does he treat male interviewers like that?

I really wanted her to tell him to stop being so childish and obnoxious and behave like a professional adult.

I haven't heard this particular show today but I saw the interview with Victoria Derbyshire where he behaved appallingly. He's a nasty bully.

Why do the BBC keep seeking him out to interview? Do you think they get more clicks?

I'm not sure they are seeking him out for interview. He is an official in the Trump administration. If the BBC asks for someone to interview and the administration puts him forward, the BBC can either not interview anyone to represent the administration's views, or accept that they have to interview him.

MrsBennetsPoorNerves · 15/05/2025 09:30

I didn't hear the interview this morning but I've heard him before and he is a disgrace.

I actually think they should just take him off air when he starts attacking the interviewers personally. The producers need to just cut him off.

Radiatorvalves · 15/05/2025 09:36

He’s utterly repulsive. I thought both women handled him well and while part of me thinks they should terminate the interview if someone is so utterly crass, the other part thinks he’s been given an opportunity to totally discredit himself and be shown to be the dick he is.

Yeah, I see your point.

But it must be incredibly stressful for the interviewers having to handle that kind of behaviour live on air.

StanfreyPock · 15/05/2025 09:44

I heard it and was gobsmacked - Sarah Montague was audibly taken aback but handled his vile bullying admirably, don't know how she kept her cool. Unbelievable that this person is a government spokesman.

Radiatorvalves · 15/05/2025 10:52

The Job of a journalist is to hold these people to account and where they refuse to answer questions and talk over the interviewer making political points unrelated to the question at hand, termination must be considered. I’ve been listening to the Senate questioning Kristy Noem. And frankly she was even worse than Gorka.

MrsBennetsPoorNerves · 15/05/2025 10:53

I realise that, actually, the OP was posted a couple of days ago, so I did hear the interview in question after all. Its was shocking. I thought perhaps he had done another one this morning!

BlusteryLake · 15/05/2025 14:31

He is utterly repellent. Sadly, it's a hallmark of Trump supporters to go on these weird offensive rants to avoid answering the questions put to them.

Sarah was on Feedback this afternoon talking about the 'interview' - it's worth a listen. Feedback had a lot of support for her.

She was her usual calm, erudite, intelligent self.

Where do I find Feedback?
