I am of course both female and substantially inferior

edam · 16/05/2008 12:04

I call people sweetie or darling etc. etc. all the time. However, I think I'd be bloody careful about it if I was running for the most powerful job in the world. If he knows the reporter really well and she's been talking to him since he was knee high to a congressman, fair enough. Not otherwise.

morningpaper · 16/05/2008 12:04

me too

He's too bloody skinny btw, I can't respect a man who's that thin

I like a man with appetites

edam · 16/05/2008 12:04

Mind you, I've had a few odd looks when I've forgotten that I live in the South East now and 'love' has just tripped off my tongue.

geekgirl · 16/05/2008 12:05

yes, I can't really get very excited about it, either
much prefer to be called love, pet or sweetheart in a shop than madam , Barack can come and call me sweetie anytime
TBH this 'news' story smacks of desperate measures....

geekgirl · 16/05/2008 12:09

oh FGS, having watched the clip is think this is even more of a non-event. Sounds very much like it was a slip of the tongue or a local colloquialism.

geekgirl · 16/05/2008 12:09

'I think' even. Can't type today
