I've just had a heated conversation with my husband about this so hoping someone more knowledgeable than me can provide some insight.
We were talking about the current Trump/Russia/Ukraine and to my great surprise my husband essentially said that he sees where Trump is coming from in that it wouldn't be possible to end the war 1) by directly including Ukraine in this stage of talks and 2) without allowing Russia to keep the Ukrainian territory they are occupying.
I am well aware of the grave concerns with this approach and what it could mean for the future of Europe - but what I'm unsure of is the response to my husband's question: what is the bargaining chip that could (realistically) be used to get Russia to withdraw with Ukraine borders intact? Is there one?
