Sorry Stripeyknickers but the clip of the programme shown last night, showed the little blonde girl crying BEFORE she put her boxing gloves on to go in the ring. Also because it is Thai boxing they are not rquired and do not use protective gear and it is a full contact sport. In one event the public have paid to watch a bout. I agree with Wolfgirl, you might like you DD to do this but that little girl clearly does not enjoy it. Remember this is a programme on Channel 4 the NOTW is only reporting what is going to be shown. Thank God someone has highlighted this barbaric "sport" so it can hopefully be stopped. These are 4 and 5yr old children they should be allowed to be just that.

Haven't read this thread but I won't be watching the programme. I think its disgusting to even give it acknowledgement (the programme not the thread). I'll boycott thanks.

Callisto · 23/04/2008 15:25

And Channel 4 never sensationalise anything of course.

Well I watched this last night. Alternated between crying and shouting at the TV. Yes some children were wearing protective gear BUT some didn't wear a head guard. The parents who took their children to Thailand so they could fight Thai rules (no protective gear and blows to head allowed) were disgusting. The son actually said he prefered to fight in England so he got hurt less! Hearing the mother say she loved bahsing someones face first, and the best bit was when the blood comes was sick. She was screaming the F-word at her child while he was fighting. It was completely unreal. The father was moaning about fat parents making kids fat. Well I would rather have a fat parent than one who is pushing a child to fight and fulfil the parents dream. The little boy was clearly stunned during one fight but was shouted at to keep going. Illegal blows to the head were suddenly "allowed". And adults paid £35 to watch this? The father of the little 5yr old girl said he was closer to her because of the fighting, but actually spending 3 hours a night teaching your child boxing moves is not spending quality time with them. What about what she wanted to do? He was clearly annoyed when the child didn't want to fight any more and was going through her "girlie princess phase" as he called it. Nothing in this programme made me change my opinion of this "sport" Sorry I know I am a new member but this really upset me.

i watched this last night

i cant for the life of me understand why social services havent been round these parents houses

its one thing learning a martial art, discipline, how to defend yourself and respect and its another teaching your chikld to beat the shit out of someone. The whole thing made me so angry

I did feel bit sorry for that Miah I wonder how she felt when others at school were doing fun things at the weekend and she would be having to put her gloves, shorts and shin insteps on and curl through a rope. Where the aims to Punch n kick. Can understand it must have been nervouy even 4th time.

Or may be deep down she did like it but worried
