Ugandan Olympic athlete in hospital after being ‘set on fire by boyfriend’

Rebecca Cheptegei, an Olympic athlete has been set on fire by her boyfriend and has 75% burns. She is fighting for her life in hospital.

Women all over the world, suffer the horrendous effects of male violence. This beautiful, young woman who has trained so hard may never recover.

I'm devastated for her and for every woman who has suffered at the hands of male violence.

Yet another man who thinks women and girls are the property of men who can do whatever they want with them.

This made me so angry.

Everyday we seem to have more stories of men abusing and/or killing women.

Toxic masculinity is a plague.

She has died. It's horrific, just such a violent end to someone's life, because of their own boyfriend.

I read this, what happened to her is horrifying. She's an inspiration.

Yet another appalling incident of male violence in a week full of horror. The bear is looking better and better.

No she was murdered by her boyfriend is a barbaric and brutal attack.

The ex-boyfriend managed to set himself on fire too and suffered serious burns. So there's that.

She has two daughters aged 9 and 11, according to local reports. Just beggars belief. Poor girls.
