Charming! I go out for an hour and I'm tarred as being a smelly childminder!

Let me just get a couple of things straight! (1) I am not a childminder, I am a cover supervisor, well I will be on Monday anyway! (2) I have a very pleasant aroma, if you don't mind!

Christ, when Kbear gets wind (snurk!) of Crossness Maureen, she's gonna have a field day!

The tunnel refinary is dreadful, its got a dog biscuit smell, hasn't it! but thankfully the wind is rarely in the right direction for that one!

marina · 18/04/2008 19:23

oooh, good luck Maureen. Hope it goes well.

MaureenMLove · 18/04/2008 19:26

Why, thankyou!

Blu · 18/04/2008 19:26

It's taken me until after Maureen's post to realise what Marina was on about!

I will ALWAYS think of sewage farms as 'crossness maureens' now.

I was wracking my brain trying to think of a London Landmark known as 'Crossness Maureen'.

Blu · 18/04/2008 19:27

And where does KBaer come into it?

Oh dear.

MaureenMLove · 18/04/2008 19:29

Kbear is my rl bessie mate and will think this is hilarious!

It does definately sound like a Viz character though, I'll give you that! She'd be a bit like Linus on Charlie Brown, with the haze of dust around him!

Bink · 18/04/2008 19:31

viz childminder, lovely

For sheer outrage & clicking heels of disapproval, you could only try the Notting Hill reaction. (I told ds & dd it was probably all the foundations being dug out & turned into wine cellars, & that when you raze down into London clay you have to expect Primaeval Pongs.)

CrossnessMaureen · 18/04/2008 19:35

PMSL at Notting Hill wine cellars!

MaureenMLove · 18/04/2008 19:38

Love the new name Blu!

What IS that smell? Anybody?

PerkinWarbeck · 18/04/2008 19:41

aha.

I noticed a certain piquancy in the air when taking DD to nursery, and just assumed she'd filled her nappy.

PaninoPan · 18/04/2008 20:01

Maureen - fight the dense fog that is enveloping your keyboard..and see the OP's link..and by post further up...!!

btw, how's Guide things going? Dd is luuurving it!!

MaureenMLove · 18/04/2008 20:11

Gosh, is she a Guide already? It seems like only yesterday that she went on Brownie camp! Guides is going well for DD and she has just been invited to do an international camp, next year - in Switzerland! Eeek! And you thought a few miles down the road in a Bronwie hut was bad! We'll work through it together, when we have to!

oiFoiF · 18/04/2008 20:13

it did smell of shit when I opened the door this morning but i just presumed one of my children, who were in front of me, had farted

Psychomum5 · 18/04/2008 20:18

ooh......I smelled a smell today and thought it was from a farm nearby that had maybe started to be an animal farm....

hmm....I now know it wasn;t!

FloridaKbear · 18/04/2008 20:37

Screeeeeeech with laughter at Crossness Maureen.

PaninoPan · 18/04/2008 20:47

Maureen - she was on RG/brownie camp last year..thanks for remembering! She is a Brownie - I said 'guides' as a generic word. She does luuurve it though. So tender, though desperate to learn.

HairyToe · 18/04/2008 22:18

blimey - how weird. I noticed a manure type smell here when I went out to the garden this morning but just assumed it was local muck spreading. I'm in Somerset so not sure if this could be the same thing. I am pregnant though with super-human olfactory senses at the moment...

PeachesMcLean · 18/04/2008 22:28

Re OP thank you! I thought I was going mad this morning...!! Couldn't imagine why they'd be muck spreading in our city park next door.
