Unfortunately, there have been more stabbings, which raises concerns about the possibility of further unrest. Could this trigger more riots? It will be interesting to see how the media and certain groups respond, especially considering that the person who stepped in to save lives was an Asian Muslim.

I agree, but nothing…

SilverDoe · 13/08/2024 19:40

Oh gosh, more stabbings?

How absolutely awful 😞

So scary the mounting open violence toward women and girls.

I know it’s always been the case, but randomly targeted victims is pure hatred and ideology and vileness.

Needmorelego · 13/08/2024 19:43

Where have there been more stabbings related to this one?
I haven't heard that.
The bloke accused in this one has been arrested and appeared in court already.
The girl is recovering thankfully.
But other than that there's not anything much more about the incident in the media.

He's a Romanian (the guy who stabbed them) so this will still play into the hands of those who believe immigrants are causing these issues

LIZS · 13/08/2024 19:52

Was this not yesterday? An isolated incident.

8008Bee · 13/08/2024 19:53

She was stabbed multiple times in her head, neck and shoulder and will need plastic surgery. If it hadn't been for Abdullah, I suspect she might not still be with us poor girl

Needmorelego · 13/08/2024 19:56

@LIZS yes it was Monday but already the news reports have trickled away. The man was arrested quickly.
I personally think it's likely to be a domestic incident rather than a random stranger attack (like the acid attack in Clapham recently).
Still horrific and should never have happened obviously 🙁

No its not a domestic. The police said yesterday that the suspect wasn't known to the victims

LIZS · 13/08/2024 20:00

Apparently he was not known to the victims

Needmorelego · 13/08/2024 20:02

@Redglitter it's been reported they didn't know each other....but there's just something about the way the whole thing has been reported in general. Very low level reporting.
But.....I don't know obviously 🤷
I hope the girl gets well soon.

Redglitter · 13/08/2024 20:11

They're not going to say hes not known to them if it's a domestic incident though.

I expect it's just fallen down the news because there's nothing else to add to it today. Theres no news element to it. They've arrested the suspect, the wee girl is still in hospital. It'll probably be mentioned again when he's in court or she gets out of hospital

Prapsfound · 13/08/2024 20:11

Hmmmm, I have a relative with mental health issues and we were talking recently about how the police had recently said they are no longer attending mental health call outs. I am not saying this one is mental health related, but the Nottingham attack was - so am just wondering in a general way whether we’ll see more and more of these random attacks by people suffering mental health crises. Not exusing violence against woman and I don’t know what motivated this attack, but I do wonder.

I saw the update a few hours ago—it's horrifying that he stabbed that young girl eight times. Now, she has to undergo plastic surgery to recover.

It feels like the world is becoming darker and more tragic by the day.

I've noticed a flood of disturbing and strange posts online recently. This incident is just one example among hundreds.

I think the low level reporting is due to the perpetrator being a homeless immigrant. Nobody wants to encourage another spate of riots and protests.

I've lived here (in the UK) for 30 years and this type of crime would've been all over the news for days when I first moved here, and we'd have talked about it for weeks. Unfortunately it seems like it's becoming a common occurrence now in London. That poor girl and her mum, I think they were tourists enjoying a day out?

GeraniumJenny · 14/08/2024 19:46

Mum and daughter are Australian tourists. Absolutely did not know the person who attacked m them @Needmorelego .

Needmorelego · 14/08/2024 20:21

@GeraniumJenny oh that is scary. A total random attack.
Poor girl and her mum 🙁
I confess I haven't read the news today so didn't know of any updates.
