This is an interesting look at how and why the made-up name and other lies to incite racial hostility circulated so rapidly:

I'm not surprised.

This place immediately filled up with new users lying about the perp.

We need to understand that these racists are happy to be used by Russia as both of them want to spread hatred to divide us.

The vast majority of people have little to no critical thinking skills. They swallow whatever nonsense they're told and happily spread it as well. I mean, UK born, and they're still out there with their English rhetoric - completely ignorant of British history and the many populations that settled and invaded our country. Thick as mince, that's all it is.

Your actually kidding? I was saying to dH last night this has russian meddling all over it. The way it was circulated online. Then I thought come on that's a bit tinfoil hat why would they bother to meddle in a small domestic incident (not to belittle what's happened but it's hardly a cause for international relations). So so scary !

RedWinePoliticsAndHair · 31/07/2024 07:21

Terrifying. What won't they fuck about it when it comes to our news agenda.

These kind of racist riots have been their intention for a long time, imo.

Russia has spent a lot of money on dividing us, since before 2016 both here and in the USA.

And…..another conspiracy theory is born 🙄

I have to agree.

I disagree that its the vast majority of people. That statement itself shows your equally susceptible to bias and generalisation. Unless you know the vast majority of people of course. A sizeable number of the population does not equate to a majority.

Begsthequestion · 31/07/2024 11:24

This isn't a conspiracy theory. It's a conspiracy.

We already know that Putin is influencing Trump and his ilk.

Some people forget that Russia recently murdered several people, including a British citizen, by poisoning them in England. There were no repercussions for it.

Spreading fake news is cheap and low risk in comparison.

Begsthequestion · 31/07/2024 11:26

The riots described above were not sparked by fake news reports.

Welcome to the 21st century. Time to update your analysis accordingly.

That would involve not jumping on the nearest, loudest bandwagon. No mean feat judging from these posters.

Not surprised. Study done in Ireland on this kind of activity last year.
