i had no idea brian paddick was such a charisma vortex

wrinklytum · 08/04/2008 22:40

LOL at "Charisma vortex".Very good

Heathcliffscathy · 08/04/2008 22:42

i know he is a lizard.

i know that he is objectionable in some ways.

but ken is impressive.

i like boris, but boris baby most of 'your' policies build on ken's (free teen transport, transport officers).

I rather like Paddick - or I did when he was having all that trouble with the Met. It's a shame he's turned out to be a bit of a damp squib in this campaign. Mind you, he's up against two show-boaters.

Heathcliffscathy · 08/04/2008 22:44

policy, showboaters maybe, but he was dreadful. you know, being able to speak in public is a big part of being a public figure

OP posts:
S1ur · 08/04/2008 22:44

What an unenviable choice.

policywonk · 08/04/2008 22:46

I believe you soph - not actually watching it.

Must say, I do hope Boris doesn't win.

Heathcliffscathy · 08/04/2008 22:46

i loved him when he was in brixton and was having trouble with met. but i'd never seen him speak, only read him in print.

where, when and WHY did boris use those terms???

brian, do shut up please, you're embarrassing yourself. sorry policy, but he isn't serving himself well.

OP posts:
policywonk · 08/04/2008 22:49

Maybe Paddick's trouble is that he was in the right job (when he was Lambeth chief), got shafted, left the Met and is now trying to get other jobs that he won't be as good at.

Heathcliffscathy · 08/04/2008 22:50

i'm a syntax vortex.

i've often thought that grammar pedants must read my posts and rage.

OP posts:
policywonk · 08/04/2008 22:51

I was criticising my own, not yours! I'm not that rude - well not usually.

Earlybird · 08/04/2008 22:51

Admittedly it was the ES, but there was a story last week where Ken openly stated he's been 'stealing' Boris' policy ideas/proposals if he thinks they're good. Maybe that is why they have similar solutions/stances?

Heathcliffscathy · 08/04/2008 22:52

i know i know. but it reminded me about mine.

you gotta love this thread. sophable ranting to policywonk about a programme that only sophable is watching pmsl.

you can't argue with a £25 on chelsea tractors charge though.

OP posts:
Heathcliffscathy · 08/04/2008 22:53

well, good on him. if they are good ideas, instigate them, don't hesitate because of the politics of it!

i have to say, i thought i might be swayed to boris, but the way this is going it's ken all the way.

OP posts:
JeremyVile · 08/04/2008 22:55

Paddick just needs a bit more oomph.
He's clearly not going to win this one but I think he has good things ahead of him.
And he may be a bit damp but Ken and Boris seem untrustworthy in comparison.

Heathcliffscathy · 08/04/2008 22:56

get paddick some media training sharpish. my fear is that he has had loads already

OP posts:
Heathcliffscathy · 08/04/2008 22:56

jeremy or early are either of you watching this? or is it still just me (nice use of license fee then beeb!)

OP posts:
JeremyVile · 08/04/2008 22:57

I'm watching...

Heathcliffscathy · 08/04/2008 22:57

this is CLASSIC PAXO though. i can't believe he just hand gestured at paddick and said 'tramlines come on' as if he was some bedraggled student on university challenge

fab.

OP posts:
Heathcliffscathy · 08/04/2008 22:58

i have a sneaking suspicion that ken and boris quite like each other.

OP posts:
noddyholder · 08/04/2008 22:59

i think there will be a bendy buses election song

JeremyVile · 08/04/2008 23:00

"...the stuff that you and I smoked..."

I LOVE Boris!

JeremyVile · 08/04/2008 23:00

..not as Mayor though, obviously

Heathcliffscathy · 08/04/2008 23:01

PMSL here.

paxo: cannabis, class a or class b

boris: reclassify it

paxo: to what

boris: make it more illegal, class b. you know the stuff that you or i smoked 20 years ago....

fades out wittering on, was meant to be a one word answer!

OP posts:
Earlybird · 08/04/2008 23:01

Nope, not watching. Participating in this discussion from afar as we live in America now - but looking forward to a long visit this summer!

Remind me - when is the election?

Heathcliffscathy · 08/04/2008 23:01

yes agree, do love him for that.

he really is a labrador to ken's lizard.
