Oh how awful. But yes at least they know now.

It’s a very long time to be in the water before being found. I know this sounds awful but I suspect they’re trying to be very respectful by saying body rather than something like remains. It says they’re still waiting for confirmation of the identity, but they must be pretty sure to release this. Perhaps identifying clothing?

I commented before I read the article. I honestly didn't realise it was February he went missing.Poor little boy. And poor family!

Notthatcatagain · 06/06/2024 18:45

Finally. Every time we walk there we look for him

Oh how depressing. I felt so sorry for the family, they were getting crucified on social media at the time by people blaming them. It was an accident that could have happened to anyone. I read different reports at the time but didn’t the father fall in with the child?

I saw a lot of that. The parents getting blamed for not having any reins on him.

Doltontweedle · 06/06/2024 19:24

I’m not sure of the area it was in and if it was obviously dangerous, but it was a tragic accident. I bet they feel responsible as it is

Babadook76 · 06/06/2024 19:25

I hope it is him and he can be laid to rest now, and the parents can get some peace. It clearly wasn’t going to be a good outcome x

I thought he’d fallen through a gap in the fence cordoning off the river? Tbh I’d have expected his dad to be keeping a closer eye on him there. He was barely more than a baby

Tristar15 · 06/06/2024 19:29

The poor boy and family. I remember walking by a river with my DD when she was a toddler and being terrified that she would fall in, also when visiting a harbour. It’s easy to say about keeping a close eye, but it’s seconds in which something can happen. I did have reins for my daughter but then you get people who make comments about ‘children being on leashes’.

I’ve just googled to see what happened and there was a teenager who lost his life in the same river not long before

OnehundredStars · 06/06/2024 19:30

May he rest in peace. What a beautiful child ❤️ thoughts and prayers to his family and all who knew and loved him

Is there any need for this? Maybe keep your cruel judgmental opinions to yourself.

Bringitonnowibeg · 06/06/2024 19:54

Thought of this little one lots. Some closure for the family now. RIP wee angel.

MrsSkylerWhite · 06/06/2024 19:57

Why were we unaware? We listen to LBC/radio 4 all day, every day. This is the first I’veread.

Oh that poor, beautiful baby. No idea how her family ever come back from that.

RIP, little one.

I was thinking that. Considering how big this was when he went missing, they’ve kept it really quiet now they’ve found him?

Hotnamehere · 06/06/2024 20:07

It's all over local News sites.

What do you mean unaware, this was in the news for days when it happened. I remember reading a thread on here

@Notthatcatagain was he found car away from where he fell in?

But they only found him today, we found out pretty much straight away

Maybe I misread but we weren't unaware of him being found either, it just happened today

LightSpeeds · 06/06/2024 20:12

Poor angel.

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 06/06/2024 20:15

The family got a bad time of it because they took him down to the river during the storms when the river was high. I think it was gales that day etc.
The dad jumped in to look for his son.

Horrific.

I'm glad they have found him now to give the family some kind of closure. Poor wee soul.

MrsSkylerWhite · 06/06/2024 20:16

Oh Christ. Just realised that my phone switched he to her. No idea why. So, so sorry.
