report here
I saw him as Galileo and then as Prospero many years ago at the National Theatre, and A Man for All Seasons is one of my favourite films. So even though (unlike poor Anthony Minghella) PS had a good innings and died at 86, I'm feeling pretty sad about this news

Of the 10 greatest moments in the theatre, eight are Scofield's," the actor Richard Burton once said.

Oh goodness, it has been a bad week. I never saw PS on stage, but love his film stuff. So shocked about Minghella, too.

DumbledoresGirl · 20/03/2008 18:30

He had one of the most reassuring voices of any actor - the sort of voice I would have followed everywhere.

A Man For All Seasons is one of my favourite films too marina.
