Partygate today on news and video of dancing...

Gosh I wouldn't want to be the lady in the red dress or Xmas jumper guy, or any of them for that matter ...
How jolly do they look whilst everyone else is having a miserable Christmas? It's disgusting ... and we didn't even have thankfully any family members badly affected with Covid. So I feel very upset for anyone watching that having lost loved ones and not able to be with them.
How do you feel about it ? I know it's old news but that dancing got to me.. ..

I'm glad there is video evidence of the Tory party's disregard for the rules. That party was in CCHQ. I wish there was video evidence of the 'gatherings' at Chequers and Downing Street.

I think the Met did a weak job with the original investigations, I don't understand how 'jingle and mingle' was ever deemed ok at that time.

It's infuriating but I'm glad the police are looking again.

HaveYouHeardOfARoadAtlas · 05/07/2023 08:20

I’m also glad the police are looking into it. I hope those individuals have some serious regrets.

icelollycraving · 05/07/2023 08:21

Truthfully? Well whilst I appreciate it was wrong, and I observed everything at the time, I am sick of the sight of the video and hearing about it. No one ever stays accountable in politics imho.
I understand if I’d been stopped from visiting my child or my parent dying, I’d have a v different view. I think being brutal, most of us don’t care unless something impacts us directly. I feel very sorry that some people couldn’t be with their loved ones and this distresses them.

HaveYouHeardOfARoadAtlas · 05/07/2023 08:41

Yeah, my mum died in the December and I couldn’t be with her in the last week in the hospice. Even the two weeks before that in the hospital was horrible for visiting with only one visitor per 6 bedded bay at a time and having to book slots and there not always been any available. So guess I’m particularly pissed off.

icelollycraving · 05/07/2023 08:51

Your anger is entirely understandable and I’m very sorry for the loss of your mum.
I hope my previous response wasn’t upsetting.

I sort of feel that showing that video over and over is very mortifying for those in it.

It's public shaming.

Yes they should be prosecuted if broke the rules but public shaming doesn't seem right. Those people must be feeling horrible . I read a book on public shaming like this (things going viral) and it's not a pleasant idea. One wrong tweet and it could be you.

quietnightmare · 05/07/2023 09:22

Prosecute them all.

I watched my close family member die via video link on an iPad.

Disgusting.

OOAOML · 05/07/2023 09:22

Whenever I see that video I just think it looks like an utterly shit party - it almost looks staged, nobody really looks like they’re having fun, but at the same time clearly know they’re breaking the rules. It is insulting to everyone who followed the rules - but also, how depressing to have that follow you around for the rest of your career.

Harebrain · 05/07/2023 09:25

I think public shaming is exactly what should happen. There was plenty of shaming going on of people who broke the ridiculous rules.

SirChenjins · 05/07/2023 09:29

Public shaming? Yep, that’s the risk they took - I have absolutely no sympathy for any of them.

I agree that public shaming is not good, but this is a lot more serious than an unwise tweet. I guess the reason it is shown over and over is because it is the only filmed evidence out of all the partygate evidence. Everything else was just photos, I think.

I find it hard to have any sympathy, tbh. The people involved should be feeling horrible. All they had to do was not have a stupid party in the middle of a pandemic.

Yellowdays · 05/07/2023 09:41

The police looked into it previously, and found nothing wrong. I wonder why they did that?

I'm not hopeful for a better outcome this time.

NashvilleQueen · 05/07/2023 09:59

Maybe they should have handed the footage over to the police at the time of the first investigation then it wouldn't be such a significant event.

No, not at all. I totally get why some people think we should move on. I just think there needs to be more accountability, though probably for the downing st idiots more. So next time they’re making rules maybe they’ll stop and think that “if it means I also have to follow it do we actually need this rule”

beguilingeyes · 05/07/2023 11:26

There's never any accountability for these people. They'll just say lessons have been learned and let's move on. A £50 fine for Bojo and Sunak...that'll show 'em.

Oblomov23 · 12/10/2023 07:23

My sadness is why investigations are so poor. Who looked into this and deemed it ok before. Shocking.

beguilingeyes · 12/10/2023 10:45

The problem is that they're their own judge and jury, so nothing happens. Braverman was sacked and was back in post five minutes later.
Sunak breaks Covid rules and in Prime Minister now. They just fall upwards.
