here

Personally I think people should take responsibility for their own actions.

I just see sueing WH as another way he is gambling.

He's lost a lot of money, he's out to make some money, he is a gmabler - go figure.

If he wins it will be a farce. If he loses he'll still make money out of publicitity. Either or he's odds on to make something from this gamble.

Bloody hell, you'd have thought that at my age I 'd have known a little something about placing a bet by now!

Think I might just go and put these balloons and banners up, and leave you all to it!!

Actually, if it works like that, then I don't see how the gambling industry can do anything to stop people getting into trouble. The measures put in place to help them get out of trouble should be followed through with though, unlike in this story.

I am going now!!

(PS. I left a message on your other thread from the other day)

lol nj I technically know how it works but wouldn't actually know how to place a bet. And there's a bookies just up the road from here and ... call me a snob, but... I wouldn't ever want to go in there as I wouldn't want to be seen! .

LOL I am the same, I walk past a bookmakers in town, and they always have a board up out the front saying about the Irish Lotto, and how 3 numbers is £500, everytime I see it I think how I would love to go in and do it, but I always chicken out!

Don't know why, maybe I think I will start burping, growing a willy and scratching my balls or something?!!! LOL

I think a MNism needs to be created about the coffee-shooting-out-of-nose pheonomena which occurs when people PTL over posts.. so many of us have done it.. no wonder so many Mners keyboards have issues!

What can we call it?

So William Hill is supposed to police adults participating in a legal activity and act as rehabilitators?

I've heard it all now!

And yes, I was an addict. No one put a gun to my head and forced me to drink 2-3 bottles of wine a day and smoke 1+/packs of cigarettes a day.

And no one would STOP doing that but me.

Until a person accepts responsiblity for his/her addiction and gets help to learn to control it, they won't stop.

I mean, fags and booze are still readily available. I don't expect everyone else not to have them or to have their access to them restricted or the government or industry police them like infants because I had no fecking self-control.

He placed over £500,000 in cash bets after self-excluding himself. They offered him self-exclusion.

This culture of non-personal responsibility is tragic.

PrettyCandles · 14/02/2008 13:17

Bizarre.

To my midn he hasn't a leg to stand on. But OTOH surely his legal team wouldn't take on an case from a bankrupt if they didn't think they could win it?

theBOD · 15/02/2008 01:16

oh for fucks sake "gambling is an addiction" so is everything if you let it get the better of you these days.
own up and face your responsibilities. you bet,you lost, if you had won you would not be crying about it.

alfiesbabe · 15/02/2008 11:38

expat says it all. The guy is clearly a total w*nker.
