Came across the news of Jacob Lennon this morning. I actually burst into tears. I don’t know if that’s normal but I just feel so deeply about stories like this. I wish I didn’t see them, or moreover wish they didn’t exist. I have a little one of a similar age - I just cannot comprehend how anyone could have so much hatred towards a child so small and can’t understand how this happens in a civilised society. We are failing these children.

I hope he is at peace and his abusers suffer.

RIP little Jacob.

Jacob died in 2019, so not due to lockdown. I assume there will be a report from Social Services. If neighbours don't report screaming and noise, how are services to know that anything is wrong with a child? Services have been cut to the bone for years.

You’d think that parents with inadequate resources, with drug use and volatile living situs would be picked up by health visitors etc, or that’s what should be happening. This little boy was abused nearly his whole life. I know services are cut - but it shouldn’t be the case 😔

Jesus bloody Christ! Have read that article and I’d love to get my hands on both of them.

That poor poor little baby boy.

I really hope they both the shit kicked out of them in jail, many times over.

I always wish I had never read articles like these, but at the same time feel I owe it to the poor little souls. Who are these “mothers” that put a boyfriend before their baby? What is wrong with them? How can they stand by and watch harm be inflicted on them? They are worse than the perpetrator in my eyes. We’re meant to protect our children. I’m heartbroken for little Jacob and the suffering he and countless other children suffer at the hands of adults meant to care for them. Monsters!

I just don't understand how a parent can put a partner above their child. They both need to be sterilised. Poor, poor wee boy, he must have been in so much pain, so confused and frightened. How could his mother standby, he must have been screaming in pain at times...fuckers the pair of them.

Nor me

If you don't want your baby, give him up for adoption

That poor little boy

I've just googled and found the Mail article which includes the fact that there was a child protection plan.

I didn’t see that. How can a child suffer should long standing abuse when they’re checked on every 6 weeks?

Incredibly sad.Nearly exactly the same age as my youngest....absolutely heartbreaking to think what he went through at the hands of those sadists.

But some parents are incredibly clever at covering injuries up (note BabyP with the chocolate on his face)
Social workers don't undress children when they visit so if the injuries were on his body they could have been missed.
6 weeks is IMO way too long between visits for children on CP plans. Many injuries such as bruises can heal within a week or so.
Some social workers are vigilant and investigative, others are sadly not so competent or alert, and can be taken in by 'disguised compliance' or clever cover up stories of parents.

But the article did say that many of the baby's injuries were clearly visible, so someone somewhere likely missed something unless he was constantly kept inside, be it friends/family/shop workers/neighbours/social workers or anyone else.

There needs to be more awareness with the general public about reporting safeguarding concerns. Many people working in general job roles, or members of the public don't have a clue about what to do and how important it is to report concerns.
Still too much of a reserved/mind your own business/don't judge others or get involved attitude in this country.

They should undress children who are suspected of being abused - HV’s do small babies? I agree 6 weeks isn’t enough.

It says everywhere it was “long term” abuse which is a bit of a joke when he’s 15 month old.

My youngest is the same age too.
