Should she have the right?

Would prison sentances of acted as a deterrent to the crime being discussed, I doubt it. T and V wouldn't have had the capacity to think about how long they would spend in prison when they comitted this atrocity. therfore how relevant is this?? This is thankfully a unique case and should be dealt with in such a manner, and i believe that it would have been thought about long and hard by all agnecies before releasing them

Hulababy · 30/11/2004 21:33

Your right - this lattr part isn't relevant; just gone off at a tangent that's all. I did write originally that I thought the "debate" about prison life might be better elsewhere.

I haven't (unless you count the 13yo hitting me with a chair at school when I was pg), but DH and BIL has, so has my brother - in his own home And my FIL was a police sargaent so we hear a lot of his experiences (or did before he retired).

Yes it would beety! I think I will leave it to someone else. Don't want to be responsible for starting anther infamous thread - I started the fruit and veg one in innocense!

Hulababy · 30/11/2004 21:39

BTW, I assume that comment about saying people are born evil wasn't aimed at me??? I never said that, or think that either.

Heathcliffscathy · 30/11/2004 21:41

Beetroot, I just hope there are more people out there that think like you.

Whilst I accept that there are massive problems with the criminal justice system, I find it hard that people think that by having some form of understanding it immediately suggests you think people shouldn't be punished.

I don't feel sorry for all criminals but believe in SOME cases there are complex issues that need to be dealt with. If we don't believe in rehab in any sense then what should we do put everyone down who commits a disgusting crime, if so would that then apply to T and V??

fairyfly · 30/11/2004 21:44

Gobbledgook, why do you ask, could you tell me what an opinion should be if you have, because i'm totally lost with the point of this thread.

Hula, I'm really sorry if my remark came across as a criticism of your post - I am genuinely interested to hear about your work in prisons, and like sophable, I think it's great that there are educational opportunities available to prisoners.

GDG I wish you would attempt to present a reasoned argument instead of haranguing.

Heathcliffscathy · 30/11/2004 21:47

dior: maybe sometimes not upbringing (rarely imho) but certainly life experience?

Hulababy · 30/11/2004 21:48

No worries SM; I think my not so fab mood early coloured the way I read and took your message. So used to hearing the sarcastic tone of Y9s today I think I am just reading posts in the same light. Please ignor my whingy comment!

Thomcat · 30/11/2004 21:49

We won't go into hre or now Beets, not sure I Do know tbh but feel upset to think of you being hurt and just want to take the opportunity to say I think you're amazing and for someone I've never met I really care about you, weird but true. I hate that anyone could upset you or hurt you. hijack over.
