This is really worrying.

It's not very clear if they went on a holiday to visit his dad or may have met him when out there.

But I hope they are both ok and can be found.

The bbc piece is very odd. Child went there with mum. They may likely have seen dad. Police don't seem to be looking for mum or dad just child? All very odd. Hope they are all ok.

Watermelonsugarhighlove · 11/08/2022 17:45

Yeah If he is with his mum and going to see the dad,I don't understand?

DenholmElliot1 · 11/08/2022 17:47

There's a lot they're not saying.

For example, who reported the boy missing?

The most likely scenario IMO is that the father knows where both mother and child are but isn't saying (because he's done something awful to them), and is now missing himself or not co-operating with the police enquiry.

Floralnomad · 11/08/2022 17:47

I assumed from the BBC piece that the mum has maybe taken him without consent and he’s in some sort of care otherwise I can’t see how a mum taking a 4 yo to Turkey is newsworthy .

toomuchlaundry · 11/08/2022 17:48

I wondered whether people can’t contact mum and are worried dad has taken child and done something to mum

dehloh · 11/08/2022 17:51

I would assume mum has reported the child missing because dad has taken him. Missing children reports are often filed when the child has been taken by the other parent.

toomuchlaundry · 11/08/2022 17:54

@dehloh the police are looking for mum too

dehloh · 11/08/2022 17:55

Oh I totally missed that Blush

DenholmElliot1 · 11/08/2022 17:56

Another weird thing they keep saying is that "they are likely to have spent time with his father, Scott Nigel Wells"

There's no likely about it - they did spend time with him, as is clearly evidenced in photographs.

Nekomata · 11/08/2022 17:57

I assumed the mum had run off with the child, but it's hard to understand what exactly happened.

Hmmm, it's possible I guess. But you need money to run.

Nekomata · 11/08/2022 18:02

Actually, reading The Daily Mail article, it seems the mum had drug problems and the boy had been in care. Them she regained custody and went to visit the dad in Turkey, who seems a bad lot, so it's her parents that reported them missing, I think.

SuperCamp · 11/08/2022 18:02

The DM report says the child was in care for a year soon after birth, but reunited with the mother after she recovered from drug issues.

Would the child still be under SS care?

Her parents say she went to visit friends in the Midlands, and had no idea she was going to Turkey.

I suspect SS or the grandparents, her parents, reported them missing.

She separated from The father before the birth.

Surely they're old photos, probably taken from SM?

I get the impression he wasn't supposed to be with mum.

Nekomata · 11/08/2022 18:52

I don't think the photos are old because they hadn't been in contact for years and the boy in the photos looks around 4. It sounds like the mum is pretty vulnerable. I really hope the boy is ok.

Retired Royal Navy diver and businessman George, 85, said: 'We just want her to come home. She is frightened to death.

'She cannot lose her child again. It would be too cruel.'

Mr Temperley said: 'We had no idea she was in Turkey or that her ex partner was in Turkey until all this came up. Her friends were stunned.'

He added: 'I have never met this fellow Wells and wish she had never met him. They were very bad for each other. If I was still boxing I would knock him out.'

'I cannot believe she would have gone to Turkey so he could spend time with his son. In fact, i don't believe it. There must be some other explanation.'

Grand mum Maureen said: 'We love her to bits but she is driving us nuts not knowing where she is. We are a very close family.

'Her and Mr Wells have not been in a relationship for years so we have not got a clue why she would go to Turkey to see him.'

its all very confusing but the latest article in the Mail this afternoon by the woman’s parents give more background information and it’s now even more sinister than it was previously.

TokyoSushi · 11/08/2022 19:03

It was just on the 6pm news, sounded like they gave about 10% of the story. I hope that it all works out OK.

IcedOatLatte · 11/08/2022 19:09

I've read a few articles about this, none of them very clear. I'm also kind of surprised that the boy has passport

lunar1 · 11/08/2022 19:13

There's an awful lot not being said, hopefully they will turn up soon.

HardRockOwl · 11/08/2022 19:15

My understanding was that he's at risk from his mother but I agree it's very unclear

IglesiasPiggl · 11/08/2022 19:19

It's very speculative at this stage. I do wonder what will come out in the coming days. Perhaps the family are worried the mum has recommected with the boy's father, who perhaps got her into the drugs in the first place?

Georgeskitchen · 11/08/2022 19:22

Possible child protection order?

This is what I think

OpinionsUnseen · 11/08/2022 19:39

So he was previously in care and the person who was putting him at risk has skipped the country with him?

let’s hope they can be located so he can be returned to the care system asap.
