I find this so sad, think she need some help to find out why she has such low self esteem.
Poor mother must have been beside herself.

Couldn't she have just told her whilst she was making the tea?

ZippiBabes · 10/01/2008 19:49

why is it news?

is this some jeremy kyle thing

mrsruffallo · 10/01/2008 20:00

FGS When are we going to get over this bullshit?

Quattrocento · 10/01/2008 20:08

binkleandflip · 10/01/2008 20:11

this was on Jeremy Vine on radio 2 today. why was she on tv and why is it news?

emkana · 10/01/2008 20:29

While I can't understand why they had to talk about it on TV and while I couldn't believe it that it was on Jeremy Vine today (first item as well) I must admit that it would really sadden me if this was one of dd's in about 12 to 14 years' time.

binkleandflip · 10/01/2008 20:31

again, why was it on, what was it on? was it some kind of Jeremy Kyle type thing?

Dont know the ins and outs of it but truthfully I believe her life, her choice.

me23 · 10/01/2008 20:35

its a new tv show on bbc3 called 'sex ..with mum and dad'' where a sexologist talks with families who are having problems and tries to bring them closer together.

I watched it..was quite odd, the girl was 18 but she seemed a lot younger in the way she acted and spoke.

emkana · 10/01/2008 20:36

She was on Jeremy Vine (Radio 2) today and tbh she didn't sound like the kind of person who makes choices on the basis of reflection and the gathering of information. She said things along the lines of "Everybody's doing it so I'm doing it" which is rather sad really.

me23 · 10/01/2008 20:37

that's right emkana, she didn't appear to be very bright at all.

binkleandflip · 10/01/2008 20:38

that answers why she said it on tv as opposed to over making tea then I guess - the title is pretty specific

well, I think live and let live, her body, her choice. Yes as a mother of a daughter it probably wouldnt sit well with me (would make me a total hypocrite but that is something I would have to address if the situation arose) but whose to say her mum wasnt the same? I cant condemn safe promiscuity tbh because it is the most natural thing in the world.

claricebeansmum · 10/01/2008 20:38

What did her parents say in response?

Kimi · 10/01/2008 20:45

What I found worrying was her lack of contraception use, has she no idea how many things she could catch?

OP posts:
mumemma · 10/01/2008 21:20

No contraception at all apparently and miraculously hadn't managed to get pregnant or any diseases. Her mother's response was 'lots of girls her age are doing it'. What I found most depressing was that she could only remember the names of 36 of the 50 she'd slept with and she was randomly picking them up on the internet.

idlingabout · 11/01/2008 10:13

Just wondered if it would have been as newsworthy if she was an 18year old boy ?
