I'd love to know who he banks with - certainly isn't my lot and actually I doubt it's true of any other one - of course if it's your account you can cancel a standing order! (otherwise I'd still be paying money to my mum for board & lodgings when I moved out over 20 years ago...).

As for the signature, proof of ID etc, if they simply sent a charity form like the ones they print in the paper or online on charity websites off to his bank, they don't often need a sig. Also if they were quoting his account details and home address, then I doubt very much that whoever processed it at the machine room bothered to look at the signature. And I'm sure examples of his autograph are out there somewhere...

I hope he lets them keep the money.

plonk

filthymindedvixen · 07/01/2008 18:55

I don't like him but I quite like him after this IYSWIM, in a 'plonkerish' sort of way

""Contrary to what I said at the time, we must go after the idiots who lost the discs and stick cocktail sticks in their eyes until they beg for mercy."

yeah jezza, that'll teach them !!

theBOD · 07/01/2008 20:01

love the guy.
and as someone mentioned earlier on, i don't think he believes he is in the minority. in fact his whole point is that he is in the majority and that the views of people like himm in the majority are not very acceptable in modern media.

"in fact his whole point is that he is in the majority and that the views of people like himm in the majority are not very acceptable in modern media"

LOL, absolutely - I mean The Sun has such a low circulation doesn't it? Not to mention the Daily Mail and The Telegraph.

TheIceQueen · 07/01/2008 20:35

I really like JC - but he was rather an idiot doing that - made me laugh when I read it earlier

theBOD · 07/01/2008 21:10

i didn't say he is right janos, i said that was his perspective and basis for his "act" as it were. that he is part of the majority of people with common sense who hate things like over the top eu beauracracy/health&safety and global warming scare mongering etc,

SueBaroo · 07/01/2008 22:27

Janos, the modern media encompasses a wee bit more than the circulation of the Sun and the dreaded DM.

SlartyBartFast · 07/01/2008 22:31

that is fantastic.
even better where the money went.

will he get it back?

edam · 07/01/2008 22:35

I like Clarkson (because he's funny and very good at what he does). But I'm glad he got caught out because it proves there is a problem, whatever the 'calm down dear, it's only your bank details' brigade say.

Pixel · 08/01/2008 00:12

Well at least he now admits he was in the wrong and made a mistake which is more than we can expect from anyone in the government. Therefore, I think you should all sign this

Kevlarhead · 08/01/2008 18:51

Twat.

Nicely done sending the money to Diabetes UK, but they passed up the opportunity to let Greenpeace or Friends of the Earth benefit. I'd have laughed.. oh, for another couple of minutes if that'd been the case.

fordfiesta · 08/01/2008 18:53

I like him.... but does serve him right!

bohemianbint · 09/01/2008 18:32

Oooh, Greenpeace, that would have been genius. Love to have been a fly on the Clarkson wall when he found out he's just given £500 to the tofu welders.
