a big donation to a relevant charity would be nice......

Freckle · 06/01/2008 19:06

Well, there's always been one rule for the rich and one for the poor (and in genuine need). Rather disappointing though.

partypiece · 06/01/2008 19:08

Nobody really knows the truth about this or who the blue badge is for, do we?

BrieVinDeAlkaSeltzer · 06/01/2008 19:08

Not surprised either, she always struck me as having a huge sense of entitlement.

Twiglett · 06/01/2008 19:11

did you read what it said

it's bollocks reporting from the Mail again

The 62-year-old actress has obtained a disabled permit that allows her to avoid the £8-a-day Congestion Charge and park for free ? despite being apparently fit and well

she can have any number of 'hidden conditions' that she might not wish to share with the Daily Mail

stop getting on your high horses

minorityrules · 06/01/2008 19:13

How do they know it isn't hers though, just because she appears fit and well?

My niece has a blue badge as she has quite bad scoliosis (curvature of the spine) This causes her great pain in walking and standing but you wouldn't know it by looking at her. She rarely uses the badge due to the amount of abuse she gets

Of course, if this woman is abusing the system, I'd like to see her get her come uppance but as it stands, no one knows why she has a badge

RustyBear · 06/01/2008 19:13

I can't see that rich or poor has anything to do with it at all - she got off because she was displaying a purple badge, not because she was rich - how would the traffic warden know she was rich?

I'm sure that lots of ordinary people abuse badges - it just doesn't get in the paper.

NAB3wishesfor2008 · 06/01/2008 19:14

It says it is for her mother as she is her driver but there is nothing to say she doesn't need it as well.

lulumama · 06/01/2008 19:16

you could, of course, be absolutely right twig. but maybe not. if she does have entitlement, i am sure she could persaude the paper to issue a retraction. if it is for her and her mother, and she uses it without her mother, then she deserves to be criticised. IMO

lou33 · 06/01/2008 19:18

its supposed to be for her mum they reckon

if thats the case then she is wrong plain and simple

and yes we dont know the truth about it, but then nor do we about any single thing reported in the papers unless we were involved, but it doesnt stop us forming opinions based on what we know

Twiglett · 06/01/2008 19:18

I'm sorry but where does it say it's for her mother??

the article intimates it 'might be for her mother' .. but also refers to FA as seeming fit and healthy

crap reporting if you ask me

lou33 · 06/01/2008 19:19

i said they reckoned it was for her mum, not that they said it was

OP posts:
Twiglett · 06/01/2008 19:20

well it seems to me unfair to not analyse what the report is saying and just to go by the scurrilous rumours it is intimating

it is after all in the daily mail so I think its source starts by being disreputable and unfactual so that one shouldn't read anything as truth (but spin to reinforce the masochistic tendencies of its readership) .. much like SKy news tbh

.. I just ranted didn't I?

Twiglett · 06/01/2008 19:21

well I think we all know that people who look fit and healthy may just not be

lou33 · 06/01/2008 19:22

you did lol

i got that link from another link on mn

like i said, if we were not allowed to form opinions based on reports from any source, then we would have to shut up on everything ever reported, as we have not been directly involved in 99% of things that come into the news

OP posts:
lulumama · 06/01/2008 19:22

you are right, but i do enjoy a bit of off the cuff judging debate

lou33 · 06/01/2008 19:23

yes twig i am aware of that

OP posts:
lou33 · 06/01/2008 19:23

i should probably have put allegedly into the title , i agree, BUT you all looked, so it worked to get the thread noticed lol

lou33 · 06/01/2008 19:31
