But there is hardly any coverage, I haven't heard it on national news at all.

She disappeared from her home 9am on Monday and they thought there was a possibility she could have travelled to North Devon. I'll try and share the link so people can share. So worrying, she's so young.

There's also a 35-year-old woman missing in Plymouth right now, and no-one knows where she is, after getting into a car with some men (reportedly) in the daytime.

There was a murder recently in Plymouth of a lovely girl, just waiting at a bus stop to meet her boyfriend, she never made it.

I have teen girls and this stuff makes my blood run cold.

This may or may not be a different case, but for sure a 12-year-old travelling alone would be highly vulnerable, even if she thought she knew where she was going or if she was meeting people she knew.

Police keep things in media controlled to not let in what they know and where they are with investigations.

Usually with children this age who have been reported as "leaving home" and "not in trouble" and "wanting to know they are safe" it's children who have gone to family and they know their whereabouts or suspect them.

Makes sense what's been said above as that circumstance would match this type of reporting.

@oooff

My son was in the same class in Primary. Talk in the community groups say she was trying to get back to her family in Bideford as she'd been placed in foster care. It's awful all round, she's a lovely little girl.
Did she go to primary school in Bideford? She reminds me of a girl a couple of years below my youngest but not sure if it’s her

Yeah, it sounds like the police know who she is with. This doesn’t sound like they have a concern she is lost or abducted or in danger.

OldHip · 27/12/2021 17:47

As others said, often there's complex family circumstances if the police are keeping things low key.

oooff · 27/12/2021 17:48

@swampytiggaa It was a Bideford primary. The one with the trumpet at Christmas.

swampytiggaa · 27/12/2021 17:53

Oh. She is who I think she is then. She sang in the choir didn’t she?

And now I’m wondering if I know you 😂😂

There is at least one teen girl or boy that goes missing a week in my local paper (online). I get the impression that they are usually children who are in care. It hurts my heart.
I hope this child is found safe and well asap.

They can't know where she is though even if they know she ran away to her family.

Quite possibly true.

A lot of what's put out in media is very carefully planned as part of an investigation.

Look at very similar cases in the past.

Helpstopthepain · 28/12/2021 13:37

The police have updated their plea for any information to say that they think she could be with her dad and asking if anyone knows of his whereabouts.

I saw that. Tbh she was always with her dad. Hope she’s safe somewhere 💕
Helpstopthepain · 28/12/2021 16:36

I hope so.

Watapalava · 28/12/2021 16:40

She’s with her dad apparently

So if she’s in foster care and family want her back they probs won’t tell the police

Hellocatshome · 28/12/2021 16:43

Normally when there is very little coverage it is for a very good reason and a strategy on behalf of the police.

Abraxan · 28/12/2021 16:54

The police usually have a much bigger picture behind the scenes. What is put out on media is done for a reason. And what is held back is also done for a reason.

A child went missing at an event I was at a couple of years ago. It seemed at the time like not much was being said and we wondered why more want being made if it, more being said and publicised, etc.

We knew someone who knew the family and situation better who we chatted with about it a little while after. It was clear from what they said that it was all very carefully managed by the police. Saying too much at the time could have made the situation more risky for those involved.

TyrannosaurusRegina · 28/12/2021 17:17

@parrotonmyshoulder

Very strange. Why are the police appealing to her to get in touch, rather than looking for her?
Did they say they weren't looking for her?
Winter68921 · 28/12/2021 17:37

Looks like her dad has gone missing too. They don't know where either of them are.

It seems she's still missing :-(

Exhausteddog · 29/12/2021 21:27

I heard about her in the news on the radio yesterday but it was the first I heard of it '(it was either Capital radio or 5 live - can't remember who chose the station) The police were appealing for her dad to get in contact which confused me but if she is/was with Foster carers that makes more sense.

Runwayqueen · 30/12/2021 17:10

She has been found.

That’s good news that she’s safe and well.

FrownedUpon · 30/12/2021 17:15

Glad she’s safe. Her Dad’s been arrested apparently.

Proudcarer6829 · 30/12/2021 17:17
