i wouldnt do her

manchita · 19/12/2007 12:06

Compromises of view or down right hypocrisy? On the one hand, professing that the state system does provide for dyslexics (complete rubbish) and then sending your child to a private school because he is dyslexic? Many parents I knoew have been through hell trying to get a decnt education for their dyslexic children. They have gone to the expense of having to pay privately for diagnosis and extra tuition from the dyslexic society.
She is just another hypocrite-Diane Abbott-FGS Schools in Hackney have been failing for years, largely dure to the incompetence of the local council and she sent her son to one of the top private schools after defending these schools in the media.
Tony Blair gets rid of scholarships schemes as each local school will provide a top level of education then sends his children to private school!

manchita · 19/12/2007 12:07

And no, I wouldn't do her either

SantaBabyBeenAnAwfulGoodGirl · 19/12/2007 12:10

but is ruth kelly as an mp personally responsoble for fsailing s of hackney council or the lea and if she was would it be the right thing for her to not opt for an alternative for her son

who definitely isnt responsible

i dunno mpos have dilemmas the same as everyone else

of course all the other kids who have dyslexia/dyspraxia have to pout up with the local provision shit for them and their parents

would her not being an mp or not being a hypocrite help them tho

Magrat · 19/12/2007 12:15

She WAS Education Minister

if she isn't to blame then who is?

Magrat · 19/12/2007 12:16

as this is a thread of a different nature .. I have actually seen one photo of Ruth Kelly where I thought she looked really pretty ... she had obviously just given birth

Anna8888 · 19/12/2007 12:22

Magrat - quite possibly she was at that point, for once in her life, at one with herself

spokette · 19/12/2007 12:38

Einstein and Marie Curie were accomplished scientists. How they looked and dress did not distract from their achievements or played any part in it for that matter.

I work with scientist and engineers. Some of the mega egg-heads have been wearing the same jumper for the last 20 years. Customers don't care though because of the brilliant work that they do.

Too much attention is paid to appearance imo. As long as you are clean and tidy, why should you dress according to the latest dictat of Vogue or Top Shop?

SantaBabyBeenAnAwfulGoodGirl · 19/12/2007 12:40

do they get asked out on dates tho babe

Anna8888 · 19/12/2007 12:44

spokette - the scientists and engineers you work with aren't figures of public authority though, deciding how others will lead their lives...

Don't think Einstein and Marie Curie are relevant to this debate. Expectations change across time and cultures.

It's not about Vogue or Top Shop.

Kathyate6mincepies · 19/12/2007 13:16

Santa - well Einstein was photographed with Marilyn Monroe

GloriaInEleusis · 19/12/2007 13:33
