how is that even possible? don't you need to send in birth certificates to claim child benefit? my post birth memories are hazy!

TheIceQueen · 11/12/2007 20:21

I can't remember - I know I had to send birth certificate off for something....but not sure what it was.

you don't need a birth cert. for CTC I just phoned up, gave Ds2's name and DOB.

theUrbanDryAdventCalendar · 11/12/2007 20:24

really? that's insane!

her sentence isn't exactly going to deter further fraudsters is it, if it's that easy!

gigglewitchyouamerrychristmas · 11/12/2007 20:24

it boggles me that it took them so long to realise what she was up to.
The names alone she must only have one page of the 'name your baby' book

theUrbanDryAdventCalendar · 11/12/2007 20:29

they must have smelled a rat when she claimed for siblings born 6 days apart.

surely?

HairyIrene · 11/12/2007 20:31

its kind of an insane fraud though..
like asking to be caught?
is she related to the darwins do you think?

NAB3littlemonkeys · 11/12/2007 20:32

The irony is she didn't claim for her actual child!

Nemostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 11/12/2007 20:34

madness..but no you dont have to prove they have been born as with both DDs I just phoned. However how soft are TC to accept 2 children born 6 days apart????

sparklygothkat · 11/12/2007 20:35

I think they cross check with Child benifit but I hadn't claimed my CB when I phoned CTC, they just told me to do it asap.
