According to the BBC website they are looking at the father as a suspect.

How terribly sad

Although IF it was the father (who died as well) WHY??? If you feel that it is the end of the line for you, thats your choice, but not the rest of the family including those poor children.

THelesbellsRINGOUTFORCHRISTMAS · 15/11/2007 09:25

the father?

omg its so

harleyd · 15/11/2007 09:26

bloody hell really
i havent heard any news this morning
thats shocking

Upwind · 15/11/2007 09:29

If he was seriously depressed you can almost understand how he might think his family were better off dead. Or that he just wanted to wipe himself and his family off the face of the earth.

Either way this is an awful tragedy

Terrible.

NAB3littlemonkeys · 15/11/2007 11:01

What makes them think it was the father?

irishmum · 15/11/2007 14:24

NAB-there was petrol sprinkled all through the house & one of the neighbours seen the father through one of the windows just kneeling on all 4's,and seemingly not helping his family?
Hope to god this is not true

NAB3littlemonkeys · 15/11/2007 16:57

Shock Sad

irishmum · 15/11/2007 17:12

Oh God,the father in this family is a registered sex-offender
Police have said he's the prime-and only-suspect.
Unbelievable

nailpolish · 15/11/2007 17:18

registered sex offenders are allowed to live with their chidlren?

why would nay woman be married to a sex pffender?

tissy · 15/11/2007 17:21

odd- maybe he didn't harm children, and his wife forgave him? He could have been on the register for a bit of flashing, presumably?

secret · 15/11/2007 17:22

NP - you'd be surprised. Dh's stepmum wanted to stay with FIL after he'd been convicted and imprisoned for abusing countless young girls. She "still loved him" and carried on seeing him long into his sentence. It was only when her own grown up family said they would disown her that she very reluctantly agreed to divorce him. Some people just can't see past their own feelings or genuinely believe they are doing the right thing and that everyone else is wrong. It's so so so sad what happened. I bet the wife thought he'd changed or was "cured" - whatever that means.

Hulababy · 15/11/2007 17:24

"registered sex-offender" can mean anything really, all manner of offences can result in being put on the sex offenders register, and not all serious.

It is all very sad.

Slouchy · 15/11/2007 17:24

You can be put on the sex offenders register for having sex with a 15yr old girl if you are 22 yourself. Not saying this is what has happened here. just pointing out that hysterical spceulation will help no one in this desperately sad case.

nailpolish · 15/11/2007 17:25

its all very tragic.

NAB3littlemonkeys · 15/11/2007 17:27

I don't think they were married, though she could have just kept her own name. They definitely had different surnames.

TheQueenOfQuotes · 15/11/2007 17:30

as Hula says being on the register doesn't mean you've committed a heinous crime........from what I've just been reading if you get caught having sex in a public toilet you can be put on it!

Very sad

nightshade · 15/11/2007 20:17

just to update you all, he was imprisoned for sexually abusing a teenage girl.

it wasn,t his only offence.
