The chances of a near fatal accident happening to your child then you going swimming and accidentally drowning seem very slim

This is very sad. It would be nice if this thread did not descend into a lot of lurid speculation about a situation we know nothing about.

I hope the little girl pulls through okay. I guess she is the one who may hold some answers, or maybe not.

It is strange. Who knows? Perhaps she pushed the child or perhaps she saw the child toppling, couldn't get to her in time, thought she was dead and in shock, went awol. Or perhaps someone else was in the room. The only way to know is if the girl can tell them.

Very sad for the whole family and don't think any speculation is helpful. A whole series of tragic holiday incidents this week so far .

Mother was a childminder. She had three children - boys of 13 and 11 and the little girl. Absolutely tragic.

I think she has had 4 children- the eldest boy aged 15 stayed at home

Just an awful week for losses with families.

This is such an awful story in a week of awful stories involving children. The image of this little girl sitting so badly injured asking for her mummy has haunted me since I first heardabout it. I'm so sad that her mum has been found dead. This has been a terribe week. All I can do is think of all the families whose lives ave been so devastated and cuddle DS that little bit more tightly.
