oh yes that made the papers here in Aus too.. another thing for mothers of children born by caesars to worry about....

That's why I was careful to say right upfront in the title that the reseach isn't definite.. and the story lists some issues with the research, if you read to the end.

I have two Caesar babies with no allergies (other than to being put down, being put in their own beds, sleeping through etc ).
Quite, eidsvold. Like most of us have any real say in how our babies are delivered, in the end...

Marina, something else reassuring in the study is that they just looked at families with allergies. So even if they have discovered a factor worth considering when weighing up risks/benefits of a particular method of delivery for a particular woman and baby, it shouldn't affect families without allergies, IYSWIM. And clearly caesareans are the best option for some mothers and babies, with many other factors far outweighing a potentially increased risk of allergies in any individual case.

Interesting - my ds was born by cs and had quite severe eczema and allergies (particularly to milk) which he has now grown out of. No close relatives have any allergies so it was a real surprise. My dd was a VBAC and has no sign of any allergies.

I had the opposite experience to NQWWW. My ds was born by emergency cs and has no allergies and my dd was born by VBAC and has excema, lots of rashes and allergies and potential asthma (according to paed. in usa).
