Rat deserting the sinking ship? Pesonal damage control after the Durham fiasco? No longer wishing to be associated professionally with a failing PM?

Good point @MoonJelly

He's going over texts about Carrie but it was fine when he broke lockdown (and caused controversy) to visit his mam and dad

midnightstar66 · 14/11/2020 12:47

I bet now he's calmed down a bit, Boris is in sheer panic that his puppet master has gone and left him with brexit and no idea what to do next

the80sweregreat · 14/11/2020 13:00

Do a lot of things wrong ? No problem.
Call your partner names and your out the door. It's all very wrong on so many levels.
Boris Johnson will find someone else to do the work for him ; it's a diminishing pool of people now , but someone will do it no doubt.
I caught a bit of Alistair Campbell on lbc this morning talking about Dominic and how he wandered around ' like a rock star' and wasn't very pleasant ( according to his 'sources') I know his a controversial figure himself , but he sounded like he knew what he was talking about.

If that is true & Johnson has only shown him the door because he called his partner a name - rather than when half the country were telling him that his actions over Easter when completely unacceptable - then Boris the blancmange is an even poorer politician than I thought.

What a horrible lot they are.

Perhaps he has just had enough of whinging lefties making him a permanent scapegoat. He is the new Thatcher but without the backbone.

I doubt he could give two hoots about the whinging lefties or righties , he certainly doesn't hold politicians in high esteem , thinking most are inadequate or far below his superior intellect.

He got paid to do a job, win the referendum and get Brexit done. No need for him to stick around now to deal with mundane details.

GrumblyMumblyisnotJumbly · 14/11/2020 17:44

He listened to what was close to the hearts of ‘undecided’ voters and then made campaigns and short slogans that appealed to them. He also used more targeted social media than traditional political campaigns have. Effectively he was a good marketing man. He & others cast his role as more important than that though. He stepped on a lot of toes but he’s made his mates lots of money through non-tendered contracts so he’ll be sitting pretty. He could always open up his own alternative opticians practice for people experiencing weird vision?

To be fair to Thatcher, she didn't go in for anything like the blatant corruption that Cummings does. The number of lucrative government contracts funnelled in the direction of his cronies is staggering.
frumpety · 15/11/2020 09:22

I think Thatcher was also elected wasn't she ?

As I said earlier on this thread, it’s all distraction theatre and you’re dancing to their tune.... mobile.twitter.com/Peston/status/1327369896959877120

Agree - distraction from 50k deaths, distraction from Brexit. That photo of him on phone presumably checking where his uber was with parliament/buses in the background was a clear pap set up.
I can't believe PM is now self-isolating. Must have been the prospect of having to work with no one pulling his strings.
