"Er HMC Chablis is chardonnay..."

Oh fuck it and I really thought I had this posh thing pulled off there for a minute

handlemecarefully · 16/10/2007 22:14

What must I drink to appear refined? (ask earnestly)

Carmenere · 16/10/2007 22:15

Builders tea apparently

Kevlarhead · 16/10/2007 22:34

Meths

bettythebuilder · 16/10/2007 22:39

anything as long as you put it in a brown paper bag.

I've just seen on the news that I live in one of the booziest towns in Britain! I like to think I have no small part in those statistics

I clicked on this thread and then thought that I fancy some wine, and am now sipping sauv blanc. Just one glass though.

Twitsthatgobumpinthenight · 16/10/2007 22:49

lol dedi. That or a twinset and pearls and a 4 by 4 [squeaky clean, used for the school run rather than bouncing around in fields lol]
Yummy cider... and smoky bacon crisps. mmmm

Twitsthatgobumpinthenight · 16/10/2007 22:50

am I showing my roots?

expatinscotland · 16/10/2007 23:02

this this 'study' or whatever is a crock of shit.

they're always coming out with crap like this. it's right up there with the whole 'units per week' and shit.

i mean, look at what it's done to food. can't even enjoy the stuff anymore without being bombared with info about how fat/cholesterol/sugar/sweetners/carbs/too
much protein/transfat, etc. is shite for you.

wtf?

how is it that so many cultures can drink a glass or two with their meals daily and have healthier people on the whole than Brits?

goes to show you what a pile of wank all these studies are, IMO>

Eliza2 · 17/10/2007 13:00

BUT--the good news comes from a different survey I read about a few days ago, which found less bad cholesterol in the blood of chocolate-lovers than in that of non-chocolate-lovers.

If I find the link, I'll post.

Make sure you eat chocolate today for the SAKE OF YOUR HEALTH. It's tough but force yourselves.

WendyWeber · 17/10/2007 13:18

This was neatly put:

Harrogate has moved South, obv.

WendyWeber · 17/10/2007 13:21

They had George Best's liver surgeon on the news last night banging on about this, and nobody mentioned eg France where in general they drink more...mind you they are obsessed about their livers there, aren't they? Maybe they don't bother to tell us their liver disease mortality statistics. Hm.

Piffle · 17/10/2007 14:08

if I drink to harmful levels but am not middle class do I stay healthy?
And is it just wine or if you swig 5 units of beer a day or more are you going to end up serisouly ill or what...
Dp went pale
But that is less than 2 cans of Stella...
