re; weird looking crims. The scary article in the Obs magazine a few weeks ago had a pic of a Brit paedophile and he looked terrifyingly normal. 'Bench' t-shirt, beer in hand, looked like he was just back from Ibiza. Its spooked me ever since. Thank God the police had got him.

Yes but that same Obs article reported that the webite run by this guy (who had organised the rape of a 9 month old baby live online) was soon taken up by another paedo.

It also reported that there are many thousands of people interested in looking at these sites.

Sick bastard...and I hope he is caught....and what tehy do to him...I do not care...as worst torture would not take any of his actions back and sadly those that had to suffer his abuse will not be helped by this...I have however heard that, if a criminal like this goes to prison, the otehr prisoners tend to be rather nasty...so, maybe having to live through life of torture will be a good punishment.
I do agree though, I do feel sorry for anyone who has the curse of maybe just looking a little bit like him and being mistaken by the mob for him....

It isn utterly amazing how they hide these things on-line. Apparently there are loads of sites all hidden under the guise of something else. Codewords, introduction only etc etc.
It's sick and twisted.
However, the sites don't go undetected by those who know what they are looking for. Sad thing is that as soon as they close one site down another one opens.

So exactly how many completely innocent men, who just happen to look a bit like one criminal, is an acceptable number to have their houses burned out, or be assaulted or even killed by vigilantes with not very good face recognition skills? What if it was your husband, brother, father or even son who had a slightly similar name, or lived nearby and looked a bit similar? Would you still think vigilante action is OK?

I agree. Vigilantism always sounds like a good idea in the face of perceived ineptitude on the part of the authorities, but the public invariably get it wrong.

The warp distortion on the pic is a simple effect you can use from a graphics programme. No skill. Someone with the correct knowledge in using that graphics programme would be able to 'reverse' the effect quite easily without too much distortion from the original image. Almost perfectly IMHO.
