Piers Corbyn on ITV. Anyone watch?

I am actually sat here like Shock

I get people have varying opinions on Covid and lockdowns and I respect that considering the scientific community don't all share the same view.

But he is absolutely convinced this is made up for pharmaceutical giants to cash in.

He completely believes it's a hoax and there is no evidence the virus exists and has called for government to produce evidence by 5th September.

Like I say people have differing opinions but this was something else. I actually went from being angry with him to feeling sorry for him.

I actually am quite concerned his mental health must be really poor given the level of paranoia he has?

I'm watching Itv on catch up to try and see it? but I think I may have missed it: what time did he come on?
Have to see if it's on u tube.
I know Piers Corbyn has been on marches over lockdown with his conspiracy theories about G 5 etc and was arrested I believe.

The80sweregreat · 01/09/2020 09:03

I just saw something on Facebook that if the vaccine has any side effects people will not be able to pursue any legal action against the manufacturers of it.
It's always hard to know what is true of course , but a lot of people I know are not going to have this vaccine for many reasons and this is just one of those reasons.

The interview is on now on catch up. He doesn't look a well man.

Southwestten · 01/09/2020 09:09

He sounds ...er....unusual.
I wonder how he gets along with his brother.

The80sweregreat · 01/09/2020 09:10

He looks and sounds really ill.
Dr Hilary is laying into him now.
However, I do know a lot of people who agree with him.

Yes he didn't look well at all. I think that's why I stated to actually feel quite sorry for him.

But I'm pretty sure he wouldn't want my pity! He doesn't strike me as that type of person!

I think he was on about 7.45ish? I don't really know but I'm sure I'm came into lounge around that time and he was on soon after.

Or else what? On a side note, turns out Jeremy is the reasonable member of the family. Huh.
Piers Corbyn seems to have a few, er, interesting ideas.

itsgettingweird · 01/09/2020 09:17

@The80sweregreat

He looks and sounds really ill. Dr Hilary is laying into him now. However, I do know a lot of people who agree with him.
I saw the Dr H thing as the fact he was trying to our medical side across and PC wouldn't listen.

He's completely absorb by the fact none of it's true.

But so agree with you about the vaccine being an unknown and he may have a point about the risks.

But the rest ?????

I got confused because he was saying it's just a flu that kills some people and then in the same breath saying it's a hoax, no one can prove it exists and no ones dies from it Confused

The80sweregreat · 01/09/2020 09:18

He seems to be on another planet , but some of the things he is saying I've heard many other people say ! Especially about the vaccine ( if they are able to roll one out) and how this years flu jab is a fore runner to it ! There will be many conspiracies about this disease but maybe put forwards a bit more coherently then he did and he will have a few followers.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 01/09/2020 09:23

I didn't see it and won't be bothering to catch up with it. I wonder why ITV felt obliged to give these obviously batshit views the oxygen of publicity. There are those with no critical thinking skills who genuinely seem to believe if somebody said something on TV there has to be at least a grain of truth in it.

It's very like the BBC giving climate-change deniers equal airtime to scientists who have spent their entire career studying the climate and know the evidence backwards. That isn't balance. When somebody is talking obvious nonsense with no evidence to back it up, there's no need to let them talk to the nation at all, especially when it could lead to harm to vulnerable people whose carers get taken in by it.

The80sweregreat · 01/09/2020 09:28

To the people that are adamant they won't go anywhere near the vaccine I have to point out that they won't be able to do anything much as it will be a requisite to being able to go out and go to work. I'm not saying it will be compulsory as such , but I wouldn't put it past them to make sure that you have to let your work place know you haven't and they could possibly dismiss you if you work with vulnerable people or the public. Piers Corbyn may be able to stay at home , but thousands can't.
I'm on the fence , as I've heard all the arguments against any vaccine and someone I know has very good reasons for being against it ( too long to go into) but the alternative does not bear thinking about as well. It's going to divide people so much and many people will have to comply like it or not.

giletrouge · 01/09/2020 09:33

He's always been a nutter though - he's a long time climate change denier, and hangs out with David Icke.

The80sweregreat · 01/09/2020 09:33

I do believe that there should be free speech even if it's someone as controversial as he is. The others put their point of view across well and they did let him speak. As I said before, his only saying things I've heard people say since March it's all nothing new really. In fact his no more lockdowns ' stance is something the Daily Mail have been on about as well in
the past because of the economy.

CallmeAngelina · 01/09/2020 09:38

He wasn't just against a Covid vaccine, but all vaccines. He was banging on against the measles one too, at one point, but there were all talking over each other then, so had no idea who was saying what.

He came across as a complete loon, and I think Piers Morgan (unusually for him) sat back for the most part and let him hang himself.

CallmeAngelina · 01/09/2020 09:39

He did make an interesting point, though, about being arrested when BLM marches were allowed to continue.

Yes good point.

I did feel a little uncomfortable.

They knew what he'd say.

Had him on to allow PM to them ridicule him for batshit views.

I'm all for good debate and listening to all sides. It does help and I like the opportunity to use mh critical thinking to form a personal opinion.

But this felt uncomfortable. Sad

I feel that Piers Morgan has taken on board the fact he doesn't let people speak enough and might be a bit more aware of this I hope.
( I don't watch GMB usually but I have been a bit more the last few days. It still annoys me though!)
Is the weather girl ( I don't know her name) pregnant as she looked a bit different today.
Anyway, Piers C is obviously not one to be swayed by the medics and experts and people will believe what he says as they think it themselves!

itsgettingweird · 01/09/2020 09:44

Ds gets flu jab and I have it because I'm his carer.

They are starting to roll it out now.

Do I need to worry we'll be walking around clucking like a chicken or having our movements tracked in a few weeks time? Grin

I wondered if she was pregnancy yesterday!

I love Laura Tobin. She's such a breath of fresh air with a natural endearing personality.

I'm holding off on PM. He often lets people speak if he thinks he can score an own goal through it.

I'll give him a week before he's ranting to himself in front of a camera again!

I loved the summer presenting team. Charlotte Hawkins was fab during the summer and has been pushed back to a few minute slots again now gob almighty has returned.

The whole covid conspiracy is just weaponised muddled thinking. At one and the same time covid is the result of 5g; just a sniffle; only coincidentally present in people that died so far; designed to get us to take a vaccine that's a cover for a Bill Gates implant; easily curable by dosing with hydroxychloroquine. None of this is true, but the idiots in Trafalgar Square last weekend would believe at least 3 contradictory things from that list and tell you you're brainwashed for pointing out that their position is illogical.

I'm at the point where I hope every conspiracy/anti mask fuckwit gets covid very badly.

Southwestten · 01/09/2020 09:56

I agree.
I’m not on twitter - does Piers Corbyn get attacked in the same way as J K Rowling and others who post views. It everyone agrees with?

The80sweregreat · 01/09/2020 09:58

It's not a theory I've heard before last we'll , but there are a few people saying that this years flu jab is ' the fore runner ' to the expected covid vaccine and it's a bit of an experiment. I've no idea , but many people have read something or heard it and they now against all recent vaccines.
It's so scary as I do believe people will just refuse to have the flu jab this year or the actual vaccine ( if they can manufacture one) I've heard so many people say this.
Hearing the likes of Piers Corbyn will only add fuel to the fire!

The80sweregreat · 01/09/2020 10:03

I doubt that Piers Corbyn really cares what anyone thinks of him. I first read about him in the mail as he was arrested for walking around with a loud hailer saying it's a G 5 conspiracy back in May. His arguments are muddled , but people do believe him and versions of what he is saying. I've heard more people supporting this type of thinking than not, but maybe that's just people I know. I hate getting into a vaccine argument as they are so adamant it's all about control and power.

itsgettingweird · 01/09/2020 11:46

Yes his arguments beings muddled is what confused me.

I get people do believe this is just a flu type illness and they aren't wrong that in general for healthy people it's not a problem. But I'd be interested in figures of those who did die without pre existing conditions or age as a percentage of whole population assuming all 66.7 m people got infected in the end.

But by the by what struck me was the fact he's convinced there is no evidence of Covid and those people just died. He didn't seem to be clear what of? Perhaps someone else got that?

He also said the 5G thing wasn't that it caused Covid but that WiFi, 4G and 5G causes immune deficiency. I would love to read a study on that!
