Did anyone sign the petition re independent midwives and professional indemnity insurance making their survival almost impossible??

Yes - me too - Haven't read it in full though, but it sounds a bit like a 'sitting on the fence' situation - seemed as if IMs would have to work as contractors of a PCT of something, which surely defeats the purpose of them being independant? Are there any IMs on here who could let us know what their reaction to this is - is it all a fudge as it seems?

It's very sad if it is - I had an IM for the birth of DS2 and she was fabulous. I had severe PND (and probably PTSD) after a horrible hospital experience with DS1, but she really helped me with DS2's birth - making it a really positive experience, rather than an ordeal.
