. Hope you don't have to be evacuated.

JackieNo · 08/09/2007 21:37

Keep your windows closed, I guess, in case of any sort of fumes.

Gingerbear · 08/09/2007 21:39

Is it the Ardeer Site??? That used to make explosives!

sweetkitty · 08/09/2007 21:49

SIL texted me a while ago Stevenston is my home town

where are you macdog?

geordiemacminx · 08/09/2007 21:51

Hope the birdies are ok macdog

WaynettaVonSlob · 08/09/2007 21:52

Close windows, open a bottle of wine, and take photos to sell to the medja!

tissy · 08/09/2007 21:53

can't see it from here....

sweetkitty · 08/09/2007 21:55

I can't believe Stevenston has had a mention on MN

Skribble · 08/09/2007 21:56

Argh thanks for the heads up, I think we are far enough away, wonder what way the wind is blowing so I know if I need to shut windows

Skribble · 08/09/2007 22:04

Just phoned freind near there, she says the sky is red, she has to drive near there soon and can smell it in their house.

They are all worried about those on shift .

sweetkitty · 08/09/2007 22:08

SIL says all the roads are shut off too

Skribble · 08/09/2007 22:16

Oh I will tell her, she will have to go the long way round.

Skribble · 08/09/2007 22:26

is the bypas shut?

sweetkitty · 08/09/2007 22:30

don't know but would reckon it might be as it starts very near the ICI road, depends on the wind

but they will probably have the fire under control in a few hours

Gingerbear · 08/09/2007 22:47

bit more on the BBC news now - The fire involves nitrocellulose - a form of gunpowder - so it is the old Ardeer site as I thought.
I hope all you lot close by are OK. We have a plant that stores Ethylene Oxide close to us - toxic and explosive.

southeastastra · 08/09/2007 22:48

shit thats awful

sparklygothkat · 08/09/2007 22:53

we had a huge fire here a month ago. We could see the smoke and flames from our house

ScottishMummy · 08/09/2007 22:57

oo hope no one hurt - and noone here directly affected

Bouncingturtle · 09/09/2007 14:46

It's just been on the BBC news website that three boys have been reported to the Children's Panel in connection to this.
here
The fire has been mostly controlled and fortunately no-one has been injured.

Macdog · 09/09/2007 20:06

Wow, wasn't expecting such a response .
Fire was under control pretty quickly, no reported casualties so that's something.
I'm a few miles away in Kilwinkie

OP posts:
Macdog · 09/09/2007 20:13

Ooh, Skribble & Tissy where are you??

OP posts:
Gingerbear · 09/09/2007 20:39

Really? There is a place called KilWinkie??

Now THAT is what Uma Thurman should have been in!

sweetkitty · 09/09/2007 22:21
