I've seen several random articles on pages that I follow that have come up on Facebook allegeding various atrocities against the Uighur Muslims in China.
I can't link to these articles as this has been over the last few weeks really & I can't remember the sources but with Holocaust Remembrance Day it's been on my mind today.

The things these articles have alleged include:
3 million Uighur Muslims are in concentration camps;
They are being killed for their organs;
The Uighur women are being raped by Han Chinese soldiers.

One of my Pakistani Muslim friends has shared a horrible & distressing photo of an Uighur girl being shot in the head by a Chinese soldier.
However there was no source given assuming it's genuine.

I would just like to know if these allegations are true.
I would also like to know what action the British government is taking (bet I can guess - none).

Can anyone answer these questions please?

Yes, it is true. And your guess is wrong.

The UK is calling for China to give the UN immediate and unfettered access to detention camps in Xinjiang where more than a million people from Muslim minorities, including people from the Uighur community, are being held. We are also demanding, "an end to the indiscriminate and disproportionate restrictions on the cultural and religious freedoms of Uighur Muslims and other ethnic minorities in Xinjiang".

In July last year we were one of 22 countries who issued a joint statement calling for China to end its arbitrary detentions and other violations against the rights of Muslims in the north-west border region of Xinjiang.

The UK government regularly raises the issue of human rights abuses with the Chinese government.

China denies that it runs detention camps, insisting they are vocational education and training centres that are part of a crackdown on terrorists and extremists.

Realistically, the only way the UK government could do more would be if we imposed economic sanctions on China, but that would only be worthwhile if other countries were willing to do the same. A unilateral trade embargo would hurt us a lot more than it hurt China.
