I wondered if anyone had read the news today of the 17 month old baby to be taken from its mother and placed with its natural father & his wife and if so, what they made of this judgement call.

bb even. lol

In the "olden days" it was a wise man who knew his own father but everyone could be sure that the person who gave birth to them was their genetic mother.

This is no longer the case.

Times change and the law has to reflect this.

The appeal judge said that there he was in no doubt that the baby was loved and well looked after by the mother and her husband.

All this pontificating on matters about which I know very little has worn me out. Time for bed I think

Aloha, to Hawaii!

Home of Dog, the Bounty Hunter.

Ah, Thorton, before it was gentrified into Target Superstore, Borders, Marshall's, Lewis, et al.

When EIS bought for $116,000 and in two years it was $209,000 for you called 'end-terraced' and she had no idea.

'Who will save your soul?'

So sad. I can't comment on who should have this Child to raise, I can't how one way is better than the other. I feel for all of them and the Judge who had to make the ruling.

I think it should have been joint custody. You can't expect a woman to not ever change her feelings once a baby is born.

Wouldnt have liked to be the judge on this case and i'm sure he/she made the best decision based on all the facts they held.

The article is sketchy and there are lots of things that could of happened. How do we know she was allowing contact from the natural father? How do we know she was demanding maintenance? Did her husband want to raise somebody elses child? Without all the facts its easy to say the judge was wrong.

As for the comments re fathers judging children as their "property" - thats pretty insulting to all the good fathers out there - my OH would do just as good job as me should the unfortunate ever happen.

Judges have to make hard decisions every day over custody battles and do their best and shouldnt be judged on their decisions especially when all the facts are not known.

If that was aimed at my comment about "who paid for it" it wasn't about maintenance, but the innitial outlay a couple would have if payin gfor surrogacy...
