Boy 10 mauled to death at holiday park

I can't link on this phone but it is on most news sites. The owner was found off site after a police hunt so possibly fled when she knew her dog had killed a child. It's just awful - a young boy probably just going to the loo in the middle of the night on a campsite having his life ended because of a dangerous dog and an owner who can't control and/ or keep it securely away

This is so heartbreaking. That poor little boy all alone with nobody to help him, it must have been absolutely terrifying.

Bowchicawowow · 15/04/2019 13:20

The Jade Anderson case was tragic. A bulldog breed attacked and killed her because she was eating a meat pie. Poor girl.

LittleMissHappy19 · 15/04/2019 13:21

The dog killed the boy. It is primarily the vile dog's fault.
*Stupid adult's second.
*
No!!! The the adults fault first! Not the vile dog!

No responsible adult would leave any dog with a child by themselves!

No responsible dog owner would allow their dog to be with a child by themselves!

This horrific tragedy would never of occurred, if the adults involved would of had some bloody common sense!!!

Bowchicawowow · 15/04/2019 13:25

Sadly we can’t ban people so we have to ban these dogs. There is no need for anyone to have these breeds.

NaturatintGoldenChestnut · 15/04/2019 13:25

And again, why I never let my kids spend the night or visit people who have one of those damn dogs. It's sad, she has a sweet friend whose parents have one of these 'bulldog crosses' and they say, 'Oh, he's a big softie'. NFW. The girl comes here but she can't go there. She gets invited but we say NO.

This poor child was nine, left on his own in a van with that a vile dog that was known to be dangerous so his mother and the owner could go and get pissed with some guy. They were alerted by this child's screams and cries.

That's fucking awful and this keeps happening because irresponsible people continue to keep these dogs.

AvocadosBeforeMortgages · 15/04/2019 13:34

Given that a substantial part of the problem in this case was negligent parenting, can we have both child and dog licences, with parenting and dog training classes required for each?

FaFoutis · 15/04/2019 13:36

Not blaming the dog is why these vile animals get rehomed when they should be put down.
I don't know if this was the case with this dog, but it certainly was with a disgusting dog that killed a little girl in my mother's village.

Samind · 15/04/2019 13:36

This story is so sad! One decision cost such a lovely little boys life. Senseless!

Bowchicawowow · 15/04/2019 13:37

Don’t be ridiculous Avocado.

Lichtie · 15/04/2019 13:38

Heartbreaking, that poor child.
I hope how it's being reported isn't true. How could anyone leave a child with a dog they don't know. I can almost understand the delusion of the owner. I'm a dog owner and I am 100% confident that my dog would never attack... People will say I'm deluded in that thought. But I would never leave my dog with someone else's child (being honest though, who leaves a child in this day and age)

Bookworm4 · 15/04/2019 13:39

The case of the baby attacked by a small terrier, should we ban all small terriers? Border, Westies, JRT, Cairn etc?
This is the reason to always question and not get blinded by the breed of dog.

WeepingWillowWeepingWino · 15/04/2019 13:41

did the child attack and kill anyone or any animal? No.

Licenses and training for all dogs, no exceptions.

Bowchicawowow · 15/04/2019 13:43

These bulldog breeds more commonly attack humans and other dogs and when they do they have the capacity to do great harm. The only dog that has ever had my dog’s neck in it’s jaws ready to kill her was a rescue bulldog. They are a fucking menace to society.

BelleSausage · 15/04/2019 13:43

@Bookworm4

Another distraction from the point there. It’s not about breed. It’s about deluded owners. Do keep up.

And @Avacadosbeforemortgages we already do have a protective system for children. It’s called the health visitor service. You have to prove to them you aren’t an utter incompetent or they refer you to social services. Granted, the bar should be higher. But I would totally advocate mandatory parenting classes as well as dog licenses. Maybe the parenting classes can cover how a dog is not a trustworthy nurse maid 🤷🏻‍♀️

Bookworm4 · 15/04/2019 13:46

@belle
My comment is in relation to the comments saying ban these dogs. These other cases are proof it's not the breed but stupid people.
You try and keep up and give up your patronising.

Lichtie · 15/04/2019 13:48

Bellesausage.. To be fair you can just opt out of the health visitor service if you want to.

Bowchicawowow · 15/04/2019 13:48

It is the breed though. All breeds have certain characteristics and these dogs were bred for fighting.

AdaColeman · 15/04/2019 13:48

I feel so very sad for this young lad, what a horrible, terrifying death for him to face alone.

Wenttoseainasieve · 15/04/2019 13:50

It doesn't matter if it's the breed or stupid people. Whether by their innate nature, or because of the type of person who owns this sort of dog, they are more often involved in serious attacks than other breeds.

It's like saying it's not the guns, it's stupid people. Doesn't matter. Get rid of the guns, people don't get shot.

crazycatgal · 15/04/2019 13:51

I don't understand why anybody would want a big strong breed that is able to do a lot of damage around children.

Yes, any dog can bite but my small, fluffy dog that was bred for companionship wouldn't be able to maul a child or adult to death.

Bookworm4 · 15/04/2019 13:51

@bow
Maybe 100+ years ago but domestication breeds out these traits. You do know the majority of breeds were bred for purpose?
Your hatred is obviously due to your own dog being attacked, one of mine was attacked by a Patterdale but I don't hate all Patterdales; that one just had a twat of an owner.

BelleSausage · 15/04/2019 13:51

@Bookworm4

You’ve just made the same point I did. You do realise that?

Bowchicawowow · 15/04/2019 13:54

There is no need for them. Like another poster says it’s like letting people walk around with loaded guns.

Bowchicawowow · 15/04/2019 13:56

Bookworm was your dog killed by the Patterdale? I can tell you that had the bull breed pressed on my dog’s neck she would have been dead.

FaFoutis · 15/04/2019 13:57

It is the breed.
