Sadly the presenter Dianne Oxberry has died. People may remember her from Radio One in the late eighties, early nineties. She then retrained as a meteorologist and presented the weather for the BBC in the North West. She was an excellent presenter and according to those who knew her a lovely person. She leaves a husband and two young children.

Yes I've been really sad about it all day too, just awful Sad

Really sad, has hit me hard. I think also because my friend passed away in similar circumstances in December. I had a thread about her on here and got some lovely support

Redcrayons · 11/01/2019 19:54

I remember her from Radio 1 and as I’m from NW, so know her as a local presenter and weather girl.

So sad, she seemed like a lovely lady.

ALadyofLetters · 11/01/2019 19:54

I’m shocked too. I couldn’t believe it when I read the news. She was part of the furniture of North West news, always there, always cheerful. Such a lovely rapport with all the presenters.

Very sad, the local news was very emotional this evening. Sad

AnyFucker · 11/01/2019 20:51

CG, don't feel stupid

What with this and the wonderful Andy Murray crying on telly today I have been welling up on and off all day. Then I read the thread about "images in the media that stay with you". Sigh.

Heard the news on radio Lancashire this morning. It's awful I'm shocked and saddened. Met her once she was so lovely. Her poor family and friends. RIP Flowers

You’re not alone AF and CQ, I cried at both of them too.

DH said this morning "Dianne Oxberry has died"

Me picturing her in my mind and thinking I had the wrong person, puzzled...

DH "you know... our Dianne"

She made the NW news for me, am so, so sad. What a loss.

IndianaMoleWoman · 11/01/2019 21:24

For me it’s that she was a part of every day life that is now gone so suddenly and so sadly. I’m really surprised by how upset I am, but I must have seen her or just heard her voice in the background literally thousands of times whilst going about my usual evening routines; we always just pop the BBC news on when we get in of an evening, it’s just there.

Of course the other aspect is seeing so many of her colleagues so obviously upset and the thought of her poor husband and children. The poem read our on North West Tonight was heartbreaking.

RIP Dianne.

Beautiful Lady

Escapenextyear · 12/01/2019 23:24

FFS. Another lovely person gone. Again due to that b@stard cancer.
Awfully sudden too. Poor Diane. I hope her family find some semblance of comfort in all the sweet comments about her.

CurbsideProphet · 30/01/2019 17:53

I read today that Diane's husband plans to start a charity in her name for families affected by ovarian cancer. I hope that gives the family some small comfort.
