This has been reported in the national and local press.

In the Daily Mail, the report states that some of the jurors smiled and waved at the defendant.

He has been found not guilty of murder and awaits sentencing for manslaughter.

But murder and manslaughter have different definitions. No one is saying he didnt kill his wife. He himself has admitted he did.
A jury has found him not guilty of murder.
The next jury is almost certainly going to find him guilty of manslaughter.

As I say the definition is different. A jury have to believe beyond all reasonable doubt that the grounds for murder were fulfilled. Clearly they did not come to that conclusion based on the evidence.

If there is a shred of doubt over the act of murder in its legal definition then they have to find him not guilty.

I did read this thinking she didn’t get to say her side of it.
He could have been abusive and twisting it all on her (as abusive men do).

Most women aren't strong enough to kill a conscious, struggling, adult man with their bare hands.

She would have had to have used a weapon and that alone would make her more likely to be convicted of murder.

They probably could if he was pissed........

His wife sounds a nightmare. I suppose it’s what you call “ mitigating circumstances so manslaughter not murder. Sad case all round.

If the wife had suffocated the stone dead drunk husband for years of EA including behaviour which seemed to hasten the daughter's death, many MNers would be very sympathetic. Wasn't that defence of Helen Archer last year? Pah.
