mums leaves kids on dual carriage way

this happened locally to me and has been on the teatime local news all evening.

The mother chucked the 2 daughters out onto the A69 which is a very high speed dangerous road, after an argument about her daughter forgetting dance shoes when they where running late

She is allegedly a smart professional women

My mother used to threaten this all the time when my sister and I were arguing in the back of the car. And once she actually did it. Not on a dual carriageway though, a country road with a grass verge. Don't think she drove off but we thought she was going to so it worked.

Do think this woman was irresponsible though, leaving them on a busy road and actually buggering off for hours. I'd never do that to ds!

I don't think this was a particularly uncommon thing to do in the past though, and we have certainly threatened it with our two (and also when they haven't got into the care when required have started to pull off). She didn't actually leave them on the dual carriage way, but the length of time was unacceptable (surely a coupl of minutes would have been enough at most). I remember when my children were smaller being advised by relatives to leave them when ds would throw enormous paddies in public - and being told stories of the same thing happening to me/siblings/cousins etc

her story doesnt add up, because if they had got out without her permission, she wouldnt have driven off, she would have got out of the car and hauled them back in, taken them home and given them a bollocking

elasticbandstand · 09/06/2007 09:11

can't believe it was over ballet shoes..

Anoah · 09/06/2007 10:33

Well I guess that will teach the little princesses to whine and complain about shoes.

I do think it was pretty extreme. Sounds like mummy completely flipped.

SSSandy2 · 09/06/2007 10:43

Maybe there's more to this story than we're being told. I would have told the eldest she'd have to dance barefoot that day then and drive on to the restaurant as planned.

sometimes they do test your patience though dont they? many a time ive felt like chucking mine out while they are screaming and hollering in the back, especially if ive had a hectic day. maybe she just snapped. for kids

Oh the amount of times I have threatened my two with this, but NO sain person would dump their kids by the road side..
