The derisory length of this sentence shows how little value the judicial system puts upon the welfare of children. Personally, I would have locked them up for life.

Awful. Presumably the judge was following sentencing guidelines - you can't get the full picture from one news report. But agree it does seem very lenient.

You almost get the impression that because the cruelty was under the guise of "discipline" that the sentence was more lenient. If it had been cruelty administered by a man having returned from the pub perhaps it would have been more appropriate, or am I being naive?

It scares me that there are so many people out there that feel that this type of 'discipline' is an acceptable child rearing method.

Revolting story. One to think of the next time some fuckwit claims religion, traditon or culture as an excuse for mistreating family members.

Agree - rubbish sentence. They'll be out in months. Appalling.

Religion and tradition/culture should never be an admissable excuse for abuse of this nature. It's just grim.
