Andrew Griffiths - politician and sexting scandal.
Why do these men do what they do ?Hmm
Are they stupid?
They know the media will catch them and the story will be headline news. Their career will be over
It's happened time and time again.
His little girl is three months old. Shock
His poor wife.
I'd be beyond devastation.
What a louse.

Because they get drunk on their status and think they are both desirable and untouchable?

FWIW I am disappointed and gutted for his lovely wife as he was my local MP (Uttoxeter) and came across as a decent, hardworking man when he was out and about. Sleazy sod.

I’ve had to change my username just in case to post on this.
I think it’s interesting when people like this (Harvey Weinstein is another) say they are going to “get professional help”. What an earth do therapists say to them?

This kind of behaviour isn’t brought on by stress or being unhappy in your marriage , it doesn’t crop up out of the blue - it will have been going on for years and years. I’m sure it’s true that being a minister or a film mogul goes to their heads and makes them think they are untouchable, but they were almost certainly behaving like this long before. If they were honest (and they probably never are) I’d think they would say this behaviour is part of who they are.
In this particular situation, it’s an interesting one because there are quite a few people who like BDSM out there - it’s not illegal AFAIK. It COULD be that his wife even knows he’s into that, and maybe in private that’s what they do together - who knows.
But even if that were true, I’m guessing she didn’t know about the barmaids. Not what you want to read in the Mirror when you’ve just given birth.
So even in the most generous possible scenario possible he’s made two fatal errors here:

  1. not being honest with his wife (either wholly or partially)
  2. thinking that you can be a government minister while having extra-marital BDSM relationships, which is a spectacular misjudgment in this day and age....

I wish he'd bloody resign. More texts have come out today about being violent towards women - whether it's in a BDSM context I'm not sure but even so it doesn't sit right with me. I'm enjoying the irony that he voted against same sex marriage as it didn't agree with his views but he's alright doing all this behind his wife's back. Apparently he's taken down his Facebook page and he's not on twitter either, fucking coward. He shouldnt even have the opportunity to resign, he ought to be sacked.

Must be exhausting living a double life like that. Has his wife kicked him out?

beanaseireann · 16/07/2018 16:51

His wife might even be a Mumsnetter, Their baby is only three months old.
What a rotter.

He's such a slimy twat. Feel sorry for his wife.

ReadingRiot · 16/07/2018 17:20

It's all very sordid and awful for his wife but I'm not sure it's any of our business. Some MPs seem to get away with it "Boris?" and for others it's career ending.

WeAreGerbil · 16/07/2018 17:25

I think it's our business because if he's quite happy to sleaze over other women and do that to his wife I don't trust him to make policy with women's interests at heart.

beanaseireann · 17/07/2018 12:21

I agree
WeareGerbil.
If he treats the person he is supposed to love like that, what hope for his constituents?
