Do you reckon baby Cambridge will be named soon, I reckon Arthur or Albert are good contenders

Mrsmadevans · 25/04/2018 15:40

It's going to be Charles Edward Francis and they will call him Teddy.

VienneseFingers · 25/04/2018 15:42

Slightly off topic, but you know we all call Prince Harry Harry and his real name is Henry. (I know Harry is 'short' for Henry). My question is do his family and friends call him Harry or Henry? Is Harry the media deciding to give him a nickname like they do or actually what his family call him?

I wonder whether Katherine was ever Kate it was that a made up media thing too...

FlamingGoat · 25/04/2018 15:43

How about Larry. You don't see many of those about.

Ryder63 · 25/04/2018 15:45

Ah, Larry is short for Laurence or Lawrence. Nice!

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 25/04/2018 15:46

NOT Prince Albert

Just No!

The possibility for google mishaps is enormous.

MeridianB · 25/04/2018 15:50

I can't see a David ever appearing in the Royal family again after Edward VIII's abdication.

incywincybitofa · 25/04/2018 15:50

I suppose Google mishaps is something every modern royal parent needs to consider.
Horatio
Or maybe Barack they seem quite fond of the Obama's, fitting tribute...
Prince Barak Duke of .....
I still think it will be Keith

ifonly4 · 25/04/2018 15:50

Assuming they have to go for something more traditional, I thought of James Alexander, but that's George's middle name. J

Not sure how accurate it is, but just checked, and we had names for George and Charlotte two days later, so on that basis it can't be long until we know.

dotdotdotmustdash · 25/04/2018 15:51

Frederick Arthur James I reckon. Freddie for short.

mmzz · 25/04/2018 15:51

Isn't Kate's dad called Michael? I’m sure there is a Michael related to Kate, I don't get why people don’t want the boy to be called Prince Albert i think it's wonderful name. I also think they call prince harry harry not Henry

SpitefulMidLifeAnimal · 25/04/2018 15:54

Viennese, I believe that Princess Di was under immense pressure to call him Henry, which she hated so agreed, under the condition that he would be known as Harry. I think..

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 25/04/2018 15:55

glasshalful
Do you know what a Prince Albert is?
It has another meaning, be careful where you google?

It won't be Michael because there is already Prince Michael of Kent

WhyOhWine · 25/04/2018 15:56

They actually dont have that many names to choose from asssuming they stick to a traditional royal name and rule out names already in use by close relatives.

It would be interesting to know whether these types of names are actually their favourite names or whether they would like to call him Felix or Milo if left entirely up to them, but feel they can't. it would be a bit gutting not to feel able to use your favourite name, but i guess they are used to being impacted by protocol.

SoupDragon · 25/04/2018 15:57

🙄

I also think they call prince harry harry not Henry

It doesn’t matter if they call him Freddo, his name is Henry.

DobbyIsAGoodElf · 25/04/2018 16:01

I don't think they will directly name him after anyone in their close family so Philip, Charles, Henry, James, Edward and the likes.
Alexander and Louis are in George's name so also unlikely i would have thought.
I think either Arthur or Thomas!

nagynolonger · 25/04/2018 16:03

I thought an albert was just a watch chain! Just googled what a prince Albert is......Don't think they will go for that.

waterSpider · 25/04/2018 16:04

How about Prince, as in Prince Prince?
Or Prince Lee
Or Prince Ton

StealthPolarBear · 25/04/2018 16:05

How can they not have announced it yet?do you think they're preparing us for it to be something awful? ;)

glasshalffull2018 · 25/04/2018 16:05

Seriously guys, a body piercing that's nothing, all names can be twisted somehow. I kind of want Albert to be featured now just cause you guys don’t want it haha

OP posts:
nagynolonger · 25/04/2018 16:08

They could call him Bertie.

Yecartmannew · 25/04/2018 16:10

It's my understanding (and I could be wrong) that the delay was because in ye olden days there was a good chance the newborn wouldn't make it through the first few days, in which case the carefully chosen name could be used for the next one.

I bet you're sorry you asked now!

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 25/04/2018 16:11

It's not that I don't want it, its not me that would have to live with a name that is a nickname for an interesting piercing.

StealthPolarBear · 25/04/2018 16:11

She wants caspar doesn't she
