This is so sad.

We've just bought a Carbon Monoxide Detector to go in the kitchen (where the boiler and gas hob are) - hopefully it'll never go off - but it's an extra reassurance (as well as having the appliances tested) if levels do rise that we'll be alerted.

It costs me about £40 each year to get my central heating and gas appliances tested, another £30 if i want the certificate.

Get them tested every year, its a small price to pay

Oh Lord that is so sad.

Marina · 04/05/2007 22:46

Whizzz, do you know, since that case I have insisted we take our carbon monoxide monitor with us whenever we stay in any rented accommodation overnight.
What a terrible tragedy

TwoIfBySea · 04/05/2007 23:51

Oh how awful, that poor man!

Sunyshineymummy · 05/05/2007 01:15

Marina - where did you get CM monitor from and how much?

1dilemma · 05/05/2007 01:22

Good idea Marina

Marina · 05/05/2007 09:57

We bought it from British Gas, mainly because we have a (correctly vented, but you never know) boiler in a cupboard in dd's bedroom.
I am sure you wuold be able to buy them in places like B & Q as well. It is only the size of a mobile phone.

Aloha · 05/05/2007 10:06

I hope he sues them for millions. Poor, poor family.

fannyannie · 05/05/2007 12:02

You can definitley get them in BnQ - DH got ours from there - and that was quite recently - don't know how much it cost........but then it doesn't really matter with these sorts of things IMO cheaper than the cost of a life (bit like Car Seats).

Tesco stock them - I paid £30.00 recently
