saw this earlier and rather shocked by her attitude - on what she saw as huge difficulties women of childbearing age cN cause to businesses, esp SMEs- normally find her refreshingly forthright in her views, but today her conclusion was to agree with the IKIP spokesman! She did temper this by saying gov should do more to support such companies in providing mat leave. Any others have views on this?

I took almost the whole year but only got the statutory pay so had nothing to pay back when I said I wasn't going back to work. But I did get a very nice lump sum for accrued holiday which I wasn't expecting, wasn't expecting to accrue it AND thought I'd lost it anyway when the holiday year changed - mine may have been sloppy accounting by them but you never know!!!

Have checked with the Maternity Alliance, you DO get paid for it. Despite the fact that I worked for one of the world's largest banks, they have neglected to do so. Time to get on the warpath yet again.

you definately get paid for it - but only at 20 days a year prorata, not at your normal rate (presuming it was higher?) I can't belieev your employers - do they not realise that their policies are out of step with pretty much all of their competitors?
