Sad news.

The man who was awarded the George Medal for trying to stop the murder of MP Jo Cox has died, his family says.

Bernard Kenny was stabbed as he intervened when Thomas Mair attacked Mrs Cox in Birstall, West Yorkshire in 2016.

How sad. A real hero.

While sad to hear of Mr Kenny's death, I'm at least pleased to read here that he was recognised with the George Cross, as I didn't see that previously, and so my first thought on the news of his death was to date, why was he not recognised.

In times of sad losses, the murder of Jo Cox will stay with me for a very long time, due to her character, the lost political potential to change things, and manner of her death.

What a brave man he was, so pleased his bravery was recognised. Sad for his family and friends :(

Weird how mumsnet have listed this thread in the purple 'In the news' section with the word hero in quotation marks? Is there some doubt over this that they have to be seen quoting an opinion rather than fact? Even though there was CCTV,witnesses and he was awarded the George Medal?

Can you change it mumsnet, it reads as rather disrepctful
