I reckon I lost more sleep that that!

"By the age of one, 38% of babies are still not sleeping through, while 15% of parents with one to two year olds are still experiencing disrupted sleep."
To hear people talk about it you'd think I was the only one with a non-sleeping thruogh kid! I'm gonna quote this EVERY DAY

Cloudhopper · 29/03/2007 11:08

Nice to know I am in the lucky 1% of mums who can sleep through a baby crying. But as one of the unlucky 15% of mums whose one to two year olds have disrupted sleep, I need to be.

Unfortunately for dh, he can't sleep through it

Sadly it's a case of PR creating the news. Company need to get press coverage for their brand so commission some spurious research in the hope that news coverage will include mention of their company / brand / product. Bored / lazy journalists receive fax and hey presto they have a story. It's called "news creation"!!! Used to make me laugh when the company i worked for tried it, got news coverage for the research findings but brand name was not mentioned!!!! Tomy have been lucky today...

expatinscotland · 29/03/2007 11:09

More pressingly, who gets paid to spew this drivel?

I'm in the wrong job.

sar123 · 29/03/2007 11:10

Goodness I sound cynical and jaded today! Must be lack of sleep...

PR company get paid by brand owner to come up with the idea, then get paid more to execute it. Research company get paid to do research. Journalists get paid anyway i guess, just that for these stories it's handed to them on a plate. Number of times I saw it happen at work and every article that was printed more or less quoted the press release word for word made me think I too was in the wrong job!!! Finally the press team who work for brand owner are getting paid their salary but then get big pat on back from bosses for getting X amount of press coverage "for free"!!!

"Although some of the new parents said they found the experience liberating, because it made them realise they needed less sleep than they previously thought they did,"

"A thing that parents did find helpful was establishing a bedtime routine for their baby - such as a bath and story time."

Headline stuff.

Blimey, talk about a silver lining and looking on the bright side. I wish I could be that positive about it
