I've just watched This Morning and they had one of her victims on. She sounds like a monster, but, a very clever monster.

lulumama · 22/03/2007 12:18

who is she?

Rhubarb · 22/03/2007 12:18

I was about to ask that lulu!

Marina · 22/03/2007 12:18

Foster parent who systematically abused many children in her care over the years

Callisto · 22/03/2007 12:19

She was unbelievably cruel to the three children and the abuse went on for so long. Yes, she was clever, but these were foster children who were being 'home educated'. They shouldn't have been under the radar like this. Surely there were home visits by the SS?

DaffodilsforeasterFlower3554 · 22/03/2007 12:19

She's a foster carer who systematically abused, horrifically abused, children in her care. She has been in court and, I think, is in jail now.

lulumama · 22/03/2007 12:20

thanks marina and callisto

crispyduck · 22/03/2007 12:20

I didn't see this This Morning interview but have read some of the news articles surrounding this and I am and also .

DaffodilsforeasterFlower3554 · 22/03/2007 12:22

I sat in horror watching the interview and I actually applauded Denise Robertson who said that she was sick of hearing the stock phrases ie "lessons have been learnt" She said that what is needed is accountability.

Here Here!

crispyduck · 22/03/2007 12:24

so agree daf.. I watched it too and was sickened by what I heard

if she was this evil to three children who were not her own, i cant believe her own two daughters never suffered any of her sick abuse and the poor lad still loves and respects the evil cow

misdee · 22/03/2007 12:26

i have found the story about her on BBC site but also one from 2001 detailing the car crash which is on the time lime from sept 2000

here

Callisto · 22/03/2007 12:28

The lack of accountability within SS is amazing. Can you imagine if someone f**ed up to this degree in the private sector? Immediate dismissal for gross misconduct. Social workers only seem to get promoted when they do it. And the 'lessons have been learnt' platitudes they keep rolling out. Grrrr. Makes me see red every time.

BettySpaghetti · 22/03/2007 12:33

I saw some footage on the news last night and cannot believe that alarm bells weren't ringing for anyone who visited the house -the state of it was shocking (filthy dirty, piled high with crap, animals everywhere etc). Surely that would be an indication that things weren't right even if, at that point, the children were not saying anything.

They also showed photos of facial injuries one of the girls received. How that went unnoticed I have no idea.

DaffodilsforeasterFlower3554 · 22/03/2007 12:34

Having worked with social workers for almost 20 years can I say that some of them have been the most caring sensitive people in the world, but, an awful lot of them have been at best incompitent and at worst bl**dy lazy.

As long as there is no accountability these cases will keep happening I'm afraid.

If I had a pound for everytime one of them has said to me I know I should have visited the Lo this week but I'm so busy, perhaps next week.
